Took a weekend trip to Miami to play tourist. We went to the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. It was the vacation home of agricultural industrialist James Deering. (His family created the company that would become International Harvester). Originally nearly 200 acres, the estate is on a stunning location on Biscayne Bay. I'll post some pictures when I can.

And when we had our alone time, I unleashed my charm:

Bodhi: We've known each other for 23 years, baby. Over this time, I've received a lot more than I've deserved.
Lan: Aw, that's so sweet.

Bodhi: I mean, you. You've received a lot more than you've deserved.
Lan: (fisticuffs ensued)

The Vietnamese are a violent people. I can't really explain why. They just are.

@Bodhisattva - very cool pics - thanks for sharing!

When I was in college - in my sophomore year ('73-'74) I met a girl from Miami and started dating her. She was in Gainesville visiting her older sister, who owned a record store I would frequent, which is how we met.

I visited her in Miami a few times during the course of our relationship and will never forget the time she took me to a place that served Tempura. She was so cute how she was so excited to show this to me. I have to admit - I had never had Tempura before - and it was very good!

What is that saying - "Women are our connection to the universe." - or something like that.

Of course they all aren't like that - you have to have the right one - like you have. :)

Later on I dated another Miami girl and it was the same thing. She was great and loved taking me around and showing me stuff.

For her, I remember her going on and on about the coffee con leche - so we got some when we drove down to visit her parents. :)

Aw, thanks, Bazza. I am endlessly fascinated about Lan. I am truly a lucky guy.

Cafe con leche. Heh. With English not being her first language, mistranslations are often amusing. Even more so when it comes to Spanish. Two years ago, Lan and Lily were on a medical mission in the wilds of the Dominican Republic. On their last day, they were back in Santo Domingo waiting to go to the airport. Lan is not a coffee drinker but was fascinated by cafe con leche on the breakfast menu.

Lan (thinking the drink was something exotic): Coffee with cheese? I want to try that. :unsure:o_O
Lily: Mom, that's "coffee with milk."
Lan: Oh, just regular old coffee and milk?
Lily: Yes.
Lan: Eh, never mind.

IMO, if coffee with cheese was a real thing ... it shouldn't be.
