Freeze is so far ahead he's duck hunting...All those people who said DeBoer was in over his head in Tuscaloosa are awfully quiet lately....
Whatever it is I’d like some please…sprinkle it on a few select folks @ work!Serious question for anyone that knows....what is Alabama / DeBore selling -- to both new recruits and existing team members?
We have good pay-for-play, but can't match Oregon, aTm, UTw, or tOSU. So it has to be something other than money.
I've noticed several of the recent commits comment on "culture." That's a concept you don't normally hear coming from the mouth of a 17 - 18 year old football player.
So I'm guessing DeBoer and the staff are hammering on culture with enough repetition that it sticks in their minds. Not an easy thing to do with any 17 - 18 year old young man on any subject.
If they are selling culture, that's a bit inconsistent with the L-word that we don't like to mention here anymore.
So was DeBoer forced to tolerate the "L" guys in order to field a team, and started building a competing culture after they left (or maybe before) with the majority who weren't in the clique?
I have a feeling that all this ties in with the fact that not a single player left in the spring portal, despite many having multiple offers of high dollars and star playing time.
I have absolutely no inside information and know only what anybody can observe from the outside. Any insight would be appreciated.
Culture is a big part of it along with facilities but if you listen to a lot of these guys they have said they grew up watching Bama dominate and it is their dream school. What we did during the Saban era and how he grew the Bama brand is incredibly important to what is going on IMO. Also, we have some great recruiters who can relate to today's players.Serious question for anyone that knows....what is Alabama / DeBore selling -- to both new recruits and existing team members?

The future is bright!!!Everything saban built is still here. Lsu is a great case study here. He built an NFL factory, left it in the hands of complete morons and its still an NFL factory and occasionally lands a national title or Heisman.
Bamas NFL factory was left in the hands of capable folks. S&C is cutting edge. Jeff Allen is the best in the business and tuscaloosa is great college town free from some distractions in major cities that may keep you from focusing on football.
Deboers perception in the eyes on high school kids is much higher than most of us older folks. They saw that Washington run in 23 and see penix about to start in the NFL.
Courtney Morgan deserves a lot of credit he's leading a lot of the charge on recruiting and has been great so far.
We also still have big guns in assistant roles. Roach Gillespie Robinson linguist shepard and wommack have all done great as recruiters. And folks like grubb a lot.
We offer everything Georgia does and we have been recruiting the same way, and have the same or similar philosophy on nil and rev share.
I tend to think it's a mix of good coaches/personnel, great facilities, and Bama tradition. And those trophies in the trophy case sure opens eyes.Serious question for anyone that knows....what is Alabama / DeBore selling -- to both new recruits and existing team members?

A billion dollars in NFL contracts!!!I tend to think it's a mix of good coaches/personnel, great facilities, and Bama tradition. And those trophies in the trophy case sure opens eyes.
