A loss that won't haunt me

Some losses have and even still do. The 1994 SECCG comes to mind, a game in which I still believe we had the better team, but just failed to get the job done.

But today's loss isn't like that. Although I do get a little melancholy, I'm not down when I can see that the team and coaching staff gave it everything they had. As long as we have that, which as far as I could tell we did today, the outcome "is what it is."

Give all the credit to Florida, because they are a great football team, and as much as I haven't liked to admit it, Tim Tebow is a football player for whom the word great might not suffice. We tested them in a way they had not yet been tested, and they came through and got the job done.

There is nothing whatsoever for the UA program to hang its head about. The best team won, and that's the way it was. Our future is shining and bright, and that's the way our future should be.

Tonight was a hard played game in which the Gators just happened to come out on top. I had some friends of mine over tonight to watch the game and even in losing they were very impressed by the way BAMA played tonight and even more so when they found out just how young our team as a whole is.

I was proud of our team tonight and am looking forward to the Sugar Bowl.

I may be in the minority, but this one is going to haunt me. I haven't felt this low about a football game since Ryan Pflugner missed a PAT to lose to Michigan.

This one will haunt me because Alabama proved that it was as good as Florida and could have won the game. And what hurts the most is the players seemed up to the challenge. They made some mistakes, but they rose to the challenge.

I just never in a million years thought I would question the decision-making of our coaching staff. But as I watched us run a fake punt with Corey Smith and throw a 40-yard bomb to start a crucial drive, I felt bad for the players being asked to do things we're not good at. So that's what will haunt me and that's what will keep me up tonight - knowing we could have won and wondering why we didn't.

Once you see the post game press conference, you will learn that CNS was not happy with the fake field goal. It was not called play rather a judgement call by PJ if the defense allowed it. CNS said the defense did not justify the fake and the ball should have been kicked.

Me either. Bama made some critical mistakes but overall, Florida just made laser passes and had receivers catching tough throws. Give it to Florida, they did what they had to do and let's hope the next freak like Tebow comes along, Bama snags him.

I wouldn't say this loss will haunt me but it will take a while to get over. I was only four years old the last time Alabama won a National Championship so I haven't experienced getting this close and falling short before. It's rough but I honestly feel that Florida is the better team so that makes it easier to take.

I think we already have him. He just plays WR instead of QB.

I didn't lose any sleep at all last night over this game, and I doubt I'll lose any at all tonight. I think CNS and staff did a great job with what is overall a very young team. No, we'll not play in the NC title game this year, or maybe not even next year. But thanks to a great coach, his dedicated staff and an ever growing roster of great talent, we'll be in the BCS mix, if not the NC title hunt, for years to come.

Didn't lose any sleep and probably won't. I'm very happy with the way the team played last night (and most of the season)! I would have gladly settled for a 9 win season had someone guaranteed us one at the end of spring practice. So the accomplishments of this team are well above what I thought and I'm proud of them and for them - coaches and players alike.

As for Florida; man that darned Tebow is a once in a lifetime kind of player (IMO) and I fully expect Florida to win the MNC with him in January.

I believe every one who posts on this forum would admit that this season exceeded our wildest expectations. This was a team that overachieved all season and simply ran into a well coached more talented team yesterday. There was no quit in this team and IMO Coach Saban and his staff pulled off one the greatest coaching feats in the history of Alabama football. This game will not haunt me because the process works and we are ahead of schedule, but last night showed that we still have some ground to make up if we are to win the SEC and play for the NC. On to New Orleans.

Not haunted a bit.

What a ride this has been. Thanks so much to the players and the coaching staff! Win or lose, I say ROLL TIDE anyway!

Feels like 1991 all over again. Hopefully this year will also foreshadow great things to come.

Florida was just a little better this time and played a whale of a game. Pretty soon they'll get their turn on the losing side of these battles.

Now let's put this one to bed and get ready for the Sugar Bowl.

I really don't think we got any "breaks" last night, but I was so proud of the way they played that I find it hard to be disappointed. I read where the lead changed or was tied 8 times (I haven't looked at that, so I hope it is right). That in itself is a pretty good reflection of just how competative this game was.

I really think that if the game went on longer, the lead would have changed or been drawn again. Both of these teams must now have a lot of respect for each other.

Bring on anybody now, I believe in this team.

The SEC is like "king of the hill". Florida is on top for now, but I have a feeling when Tebow is gone they'll be hard pressed too stay there. Bama is almost to the top, a few more great recruiting classes and we'll push the gators off. LSU and Georgia are sliding down slowly, Tennessee is sliding down at a faster pace, an Auburn got about half way up the hill and took a nosedive into a ditch.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Yeah, this loss will hurt for a bit, but things will be OK, and hopefully this team learns from this.
This will make them real hungry during the off season, and they will become even a better team for it.........

Florida has 39 ESPN top 150 recruits compared to 11 top ESPN 150(7 last year) recruits for Bama over the last 3 years. These players worked their tails off, and became better players because they bought into the process. worked real hard, and had team chemistry playing like a team.
I thank them for a great season, and really turning things around for Bama.
This time I feel comfortable saying Bama is back, and here to going to BCS bowl for the seniors, but I do feel for them not getting that SEC title. Bama played well enough to win that game, but came up short because Florida had a QB that just has a will to win that you can't teach.

Here's to a bright future for all of Bama nation............:)

I have not lost any sleep over this loss and I will not. UF won. Pure and simple. There are no refs to blame (even with the horse collar penalty), and no bad breaks. They just beat Bama and I am pretty sure they will beat Oklahoma in a few weeks. Like many of you, I would never thought we would have had the season we had coming out of Spring Training.

We went 12-0, beat Clemson in the Dome, UGA in Athens, LSU in Death Valley, and destroyed Auburn for the first time in 7 years. We were also ranked No. 1 and had a hand in destroying some coaches futures at their respective schools (4). Not a bad season at all and, as a TRUE Bama fan, I will continue to hold my head high and prepare for next season with the attitude that the BCS is a birth right for BAMA!
