One of the main issues is that our political elite have totally failed us.
...snip...
For someone who believes there are systematic and manufactured failures in the current system of governing you sure seem willing to go with the status quo over seeing if there might not be a better way.
Anything has got to be better than the banana republic that Trump, Barr, and McConnell are installing right now. Fundamentally I think you are falling into the standard false equivalency issue that many who favor maintaining their status and position over enduring a little discomfort for possible meaningful change.
Hiding behind the fear of the other, when the corruption and graft you know is no better in terms of actually having the potential of affecting large scale change and I think you know it. However holding ANTIFA up as the next great boogeyman version of socialism/Marxism/non-capitalism is really just a way of creating or stoking enough fear of the unknown that makes people in comfort feel not so bad when they decide to vote for DJT or decide to write in Saban as a protest vote because obviously Biden is so ering that no matter how bad DJT is he won’t hand the US to China on a platter.
Libertarianism is the modern day version of “I’ve got mine, you get yours.” Yet this is all while either ignoring the fact that there are entire segments the game is rigged against, or knowing it and not caring.
You and I will have to disagree on Chinese policy WRT the US. Fundamentally I believe US companies were willing to trade away future market share due to technological superiority for immediate profits at the cost of technological transfer. This is a fundamental issue with companies and their organization as CEOs are incentivized to improve the stock price at any cost, so long as they get their golden parachute. Leaving their successor to deal with the ramifications of their decisions. Thinking that the US government had the legal tools to tell companies that they couldn’t do what they wanted WRT their technology is one of the rights biggest lies.
Political change never comes without a bit of discomfort.
