Apparently there's language. Thanks for the heads up tusks_n_raider.

Head to youtube to watch it if you want.

I watched this earlier this morning and Aaron drops some none TF's friendly language in the latter half of the video so you probably want to just screen shot the name of the video but not link it to avoid a suspension.

It's a good video though and in the later half he goes over JM not pulling the trigger on certain routes.

Lots of the RT getting beat.

The WR's not getting a lot of consistent separation. (which isn't great vs USF)

Milroe not reading the coverage so his decision making on when to throw isn't good.

Throws are late....even when there is space between the WR and DB.

Milroe's feet need a lot of work. His timing needs a lot of work.

OL was bad. WR's had issues. Lots of issues all around.

Watched all of it. What I took from it was that Jalen's performance wasn't as good as the optimists made it out to be and wasn't as bad as the pessimists made it out to be. The way everyone was talking in that one thread, we had receivers running wide open every play, but I didn't see that in that breakdown. Instead I saw a few instances where Jalen should have gotten the ball out faster, but for the most part, he made the right decisions. The receivers, for whatever reason, just could not get separation. There were also a bunch of long developing routes given the pressure.

I'm kind of mad that Aaron Murray has made me like him in 2 weeks but he is very good at breaking things down and I'll probably continue to watch his vids all season.

I'm glad he highlighted the timing issues this week.

Specifically covering the footwork and how the ball needs to be out on the 3 step drops and 5 step drops.

Step, Step, Step, - Bang ball needs to be out
Step, Step, Step, Step, Step, - Bang ball needs to be out

Those extra pitter patter steps waiting for the WR to be open have got to go.

Trust your guy...Trust your WR or TE to beat his guy and throw the ball to area the route is heading towards.

That's what CKD's Offense is predicated on....

Our Routes are designed to send WR's into an area of the field.. these 'pockets of space' where they basically run under the ball and catch it because the ball is already out and heading to that area/pocket of space.

JM is waiting for them to BE OPEN before he even thinks about throwing and even then on some routes he just doesn't like what he sees and won't trust it or pull the trigger.

My big takeaways:

Lots of issues on Oline with blitz pickups. Sheridan seems to be in love with “Three verts” which certainly didn’t help with protections.

Receivers need work on coverage recognition, route running and getting separation.

Milroe still late getting it out. Footwork still not where it should be. The notion of “throwing the receiver open“ still not part of his game.

The first three quarters of this reminds me 2017 Auburn/Jalen Hurts game. Press receivers, jam-grab-hold, and press the pocket. Steele knew that Jalen struggled with quick read/intermediate passing game. Milroe has the same issue.

Unfortunately it is the nature of the QB position. You get too much credit when you win and too much criticism when you lose.

Throwing the receiver open would probably solve 90% of Jalen’s issues. That one change would open up the playbook and make it easier not to call 3 verts all the time. Plus the ball would be out sooner be less of a need to work the pocket.

His throwing mechanics will never let him be that accurate. His feet are all over the place and lots of just chucking the ball with his arm strength.

If he could fix his mechanics he'd have a good starting foundation.

My take (copied and pasted from the Post-game thread):

He lays blame in 3 areas (not in any order):

1. Playcalling: in constantly harped on us continuing to run 4 verticles. Why we did this with the pressure they were bringing just doesn't make sense!

2. OL: He constantly shows them getting beat OR audibling into slide protection when they should have stayed in 5.0, which basically means you block the guy in front of you. BTW, if you want to know more about the LOS he drops a lot of insight in this video. Now, the question becomes, who called for the slide protection? Was it OL captain or JM???

3. JM: Biggest criticism (and we all know it already) is JM is LATE and/or INACCURATE on just about every throw. When the ball should be out of his hands, he's still holding it. Even on many of the completed passes, he's late or inaccurate but if he's on time or more accurate it's a house call in many cases. FWIW, I'm convinced this is something JM probably will never be able to change. It is what it is. If we are rolling with him this year, we might as well prepare for feast or famine.

One other thing I picked up on from the AM video that he doesn't mention: If you watch JM's eyes, you can tell he's in love with #2. It's like he's trying to find him on a verticle route with his first read. You can tell JM likes 4+2=6 thinking.

Full credit to @gtgilbert for being on this from the very beginning (even watching warm ups when he was backing up BY).

He's slow getting the ball out in passing skels WHEN THERE IS NO COVERAGE!

So, there's no question, this is his biggest issue (along with accuracy).

We are basically struggling to accept we now have a QB who is mortal in this regard when our 3 prior QBs were exceptional in both of these areas: they threw the ball before the receiver was open (on time) and it generally hit him in the numbers. Of course, TUA was the GOAT and it was because he was so good at presnap reads because when the ball was snapped he usually knew where he was going to throw it. JM, it seems, doesn't know, and he's deciding based on what he sees and he has slow eyes.

I agree with you. Three different quarterback coaches have tried to fix these issues with him, and he is still doing it. At this point, I do not think it is something that can or will be fixed.

Good video, and the video confirmed the majority of what I saw live. The Oline was atrocious, making the wrong blocking calls, getting beat off the snap, and just overall a bad fundamental performance.

What compounded the OL problem was Jalen didn't make any adjustments to mitigate the issues the OL was having. The pic below shows him making the throw to the WR 20+ yards down the sideline when he has a collapsing pocket and a check-down receiver (RB) literally right in front of him. The throw should have gone to the check down to get positive yards. Yet he throws to the WR 20+ yards down the field who is (as Murray says) "pinned" up against the sideline.

The pic below Jalen has a clean pocket and time to throw. He has the crossing Wr (#7) who's already beat his defender and is running toward open space. Jalen, again, decides to take the harder throw to Ryan Williams who not only has a defender on him but safety help over the top. The ball should have gone to the crossing wr who had his defender to his back and open grass in front of him.

The below pic Jalen again has a clean pocket with three verticals and trailing receiver 15 yards behind the play (circled in red). He decides to make the throw to the top WR (circled) who is not open and guarded to the inside by the DB with the sideline closing in quick to the outside. The ball should have gone to the wide open trailer receiver (circled) for an 8-10 yard gain.

For those who keep saying there weren't check down or safety valves in these routes obviously didn't watch Murray's film. I can count on about three fingers of all the plays he showed that there wasn't a legitimate check down or safety valve to get the ball to if the play or OL started breaking down.

The OL sucked butt and let's not make light of it. They were atrocious and should be immensely embarrassed. They have to get better and quick. But we've got to stop misreading plays and throwing the ball to the wrong guy. I picked just three, there were more..

We won't beat Georgia unless this stuff is cleaned up. Will be a struggle against Wisky.

I wonder how far behind we'll have to fall before CKD/CNSheridan rips off the bandaid???

If this stuff isn't cleaned up we could lose to UGA, Tennessee, Missouri, and LSU in Death Valley won't be a cakewalk.

Three different on-staff QB coaches. he's also been using off-season private QB coaching for at least 3 off-seasons yet still has the same challenges.

Our schedule is really difficult this year and we're about to start playing some Good teams...maybe some great teams.

@Wisconsin and vs UGA

@Tenn, vs Mizzou, @LSU

@OU, vs AU

None of those are gimmes

I'm not sure who is best equipped to limit our Offense while also having success against our Defense but they all will have more talent and depth than USF.

All of them will probably send pressure though because they've seen how effective that can be.

I have no idea what the answer is to your 2nd question.

With a 12 team playoff you could lose 2 games and still be in the mix depending on what's going on across the country.

I think we'd have to lose at least 3-4 games for a change to be made but even then I'm not sure it will happen.

It's got me worried about next year and potentially having a starting QB with Zero starting experience or really any meaningful playing time.

It's really going to bother me if Julian Sayin is up in Ohio slinging dimes all over the place and maybe our current #2 is doing the same thing for another team.

I won't condone the language but it is mild. I think it should be watched. There are a number of things we tend to blame the QB for where he was put in a difficult spot by bad routes, bad OL protections or whatever. As a know-nothing myself, I have often ranted on the QB but this is a team sport. There are things Milroe can improve on, confidence in his receivers is #1.
