I think you hit on a key point here. While the Yea Alabama Collective is a separate entity from the University’s Athletic Department, it is the “official collective of the university” using the university branding and having its full support. While hiring decisions for Yeah Alabama Collective fall to discretion of its leadership, I think it was is safe to say those decisions aren’t made in a vacuum. There is very close alignment and communication between the University’s Athletic Department and the Yeah Alabama Collective, as it should be with any entity representing the University. How much influence the Athletic Department has on staffing/hiring decisions is the question. Could be none at all or it could be significant.
Honestly, with today's culture of "hook up" with anybody and everybody. What's the difference in a hooker and someone advertising a "hook up" online. They both probably have been with the same amount of people.
