ACC official takes his toys and goes home ... because replays

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

Or, more specifically, how the control booth / ACC HQ ruled there was a review called before another play was run during the UConn / Syracuse game last week. Didn't like how they handled it while he was the head referee and isn't going to ref anymore after being an ACC ref since '02.

I have noticed a trend this year particularly in which replay officials buzz down way too late to stop the next play. In my view, too late is too late.
My football watching buddy asked if we could buzz down to the penultimate play of the 1983 Bama-Penn State game.

I'm guessing this has been boiling for some time. You don't just walk away from a 23 year officiating career, during the season, over a one-time incident.

I'm confident there's history we don't know about.

Can we find a way to make Autrey this angry? Asking for literally everyone.
You, sir, win the internet today!

Yeah, there may be more to it behind the scenes...

Imagine Autrey being promoted to SEC Head of Officials. The other (and much more qualified) officials in the league would no doubt take umbrage with it.
