To take advantage of the current CFP rules, the ACC is making plans. They are trying to game the system to ensure more than one team makes it into the playoffs, and don't care if the #1 team in their conference even makes it into their title game.

Time for these conference title games to go. They are officially meaningless.

Abolish the conference championship games! They're an opportunity for:
- Best conference team to pick up a critical injury going into the "real" playoffs;
- Team that loses the conference championship game to be left out of the playoffs; and
- Ensures both teams are less rested going into the playoffs.

And yes, SEC & BIG need to consider if their best interests are served by continuing to remain in a league with the other conferences.

If I'm reading that article correctly, they want to name a regular season champion, and then let the second and third place finishers play for the conference championship? So, they'll have a regular season champion and a post-season champion (that doesn't include the top team in the league)?

NCAA does some REALLY STUPID stuff, but I don’t see even that group being duped into something like this. You have one champion - and how many ever at large teams you can manage to get past the committee’s smell test. They should have considered themselves fortunate to have gotten both teams in this past year. In either scenario they described I couldn’t see them getting more than 2 in this past year, and they could have possibly cost themselves one spot with that mini-playoff scheme.

The committee didn't dall for the Big 12 scam early on, so maybe.

Just declare everyone in the conference co-champions and force the CFP to put them all in the playoff.
