My CPA sent me an e-mail last week suggesting my wife and I get an IRA, so I'm looking around at my options.

Thoughts on going with a national corporation compared to a local place?

Vanguard all the way. Like mentioned above the target funds are great. Or you can go with something like their US total market or S&P500 index funds if you have investments elsewhere and don't need the diversification of the target fund.

I'm retired and have all mine at Fidelity. I'm very happy with them.

I won't give Fidelity my money after I read this

A lot depends on your age and risk tolerance. Might want to consider a financial adviser with a reputable company. Lots of options.

It really doesn't take that much to do it without a financial advisor. All the info you need is out there if you look.

I would go with a target fund (mixture of stock & bond funds that readjusts depending on age) before I would go with a private advisor. The costs will be much lower and the results better.
Bottom line, take your accountants advice and start investing in an IRA, or better, an employer sponsored 401K if offered
