Looking at the list of current Alabama commits on Scout, I noticed they have AJ listed as a soft verbal. I know there was concern when he visited Ole Miss but I thought at this point he has solidified his commitment. Did I miss some recent comments or something?

For some reason, Scout list Bama commits and "soft" if they take visits. They don't seem to do this for other teams commits.. Go figure.:conf2:

... some interesting comments from aj in this tidesports.com article dated tuesday, dec 16

... here's an excerpt:

... “I am going to take my visits,” McCarron said. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Coach [Nick] Saban is the one telling me I should take my visits. I am going to do what he says. It’s all Bama for me, unless coach Saban gets fired tomorrow.” ...

If you have heard his radio interview, then you would know he is solid.

He is out there recruiting for us, even saying that he thinks Reuben Randle will shun LSU to come to 'bama.

Yup, & he's doing so much more than just talking........his play in the All-Star game sent a clear message to any receiver watching.......OR participating!! ;)

I am not a recruiting expert by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, recruiting tends to bore the hell out of me. That being said, we Bama fans need to stop worrying about this stuff so much.

It seems to me that CNS is building a powerhouse program in Tuscaloosa, to the point that if one player that we are pursuing spurns us, we can back him up with another with only a small drop off.

We are not in the days of Mike Shula or Franchione anymore. Kids are now lining up, hoping for the chance to play at Alabama. We are now turning away kids who may have been the cornerstone of a class just 3 or 4 years ago. It is clear to me that this trend will continue as long as CNS is there, and probably after.

In short, the future is bright at Bama, and I have the utmost confidence in our staff to identify and land players to fill our needs and turn Bama into a program that will truly dominate the SEC West.

I don't agree with Drewy what so ever, recruiting is possibly my favorite. Also if you get bored by this part of the board ignore it.

But none the less like I've said from the get go, AJ is playing the field working on his extra star and getting his name out there and working hard for Alabama while doing it. His heart and future is at Alabama and he knows that and Coach knows that.

I don't really post much on this board, but I tend to check it pretty often. I can see where Drewy is coming from, sometimes it is boring to look at the Recruiting board because of a lack of action or news. It isn't a criticism of Tidefans, that's just how it happens. It gets a bit noisy though with all of the rumors in the recruiting business and I tend to just stay away from that kinda stuff, it's all "He said this, he said that..." kinda deal.

AJ made it pretty clear early on that he was going to play football at Alabama and he is. His statement about going to Alabama unless Coach Saban is no longer the coach is a testament to that. If AJ believes that Randle will spurn LSU, then AJ needs to be the #1 student recruiter when he gets on campus next year.

I am not a recruiting junky, but I tend to follow it and ask the guys here (who DO follow it closely) about it. This is our future! And it's looking bright! :)

The only thing we have to worry about AJ is if he decides to sign with the MLB... This is the strongest other possibility outside of him comming to T-Town..
