I support the hire because CNS supports it. I wonder what this means for our offensive philosophy? Read somewhere, maybe on here, that CLK said he would like up tempo if he was ever a OC again. I don't think we ever see a wholesale sellout to the junk. Maybe a change of pace package?

I'll say this...if Lane Kiffin is the guy that will utilize and unleash the talent that Bama has on it's roster...then bring him on! With what Bama had on it's sidelines this past year, Bama should have run away with every award and Championship possible. That was the most disappointing thing about this past season, that Bama had such great potential, but it was overlooked, seldom used, or never called upon. Good luck to CDM, but now I can't wait to see what next year will bring, especially with an offensive go-getter as the co-ordinator. And I trust CNS to handle anything else, including any shenanigans by those with a record of possible shenanigans, whomever that might be. Roll Tide!
This right here.

The positive on this hire-- the guy is due for success and because he hasn't had it I think he will be hungry to prove himself and I think he will do everything in his power to make a name for himself(preferably a good one this time).
The negative- his name is Lane Kiffin

People demanded coaching changes and questioned play calling. I hope they're all happy with this hire.

I wasn't upset with the coaching or Nuss, but if you are going to change, you might as well go big. Former NFL head coach, former USC head coach, great recruiter, and as a OC he averaged 49 PPG one season. I don't have to like him on a personal level, and his job isn't to get me to like him on a personal level.

I'm actually really excited for this hire. Sure Kiffin wasn't a great head coach, oh well. But his time as OC seems to be legit and I'm looking forward to it.

I don't recollect any negativity about him before he became a head coach. The reason he got those plum HC jobs was because everyone was so impressed with him as an OC, and as a recruiter. Not all good coordinators are cut out to be HCs though. Whether he is or isn't, time will tell. I've not the first reason to doubt this hire though.

I'll say this about the guy. UT almost beat us in 2009 because we could not stop their throws to the tight end in Kiffin's offense. The play before Rocky Block they completed a long pass to the tight end when we were in prevent. Maybe Coach Saban finally thought, "Dang it, I want somebody who'll actually utilize our tight ends!!"..
Plus, he's a great QB coach.
Gotta pull for him now guys and gals. Like it or not, he's one of us.
I had to grit my teeth to write that :)

Phil Savage is cohosting the show on SiriusXM College Sports tonight. He said Bama fans need to remember to look at him as an OC mad not a HC, so look at his early USC days and not Tennessee.

I agree with you sip, we will just have to trust Saban on this one, that I why he gets paid the big bucks and the best we can offer is our opinion which does not amount to much. Here is hoping we light the scoreboards up next year and beyond.

ultimately, I trust Saban. If Kiffin's good enough for Saban, I'll shut my mouth. My only concern is that he won't be around long before taking another HC opp but that goes with being a successful program anyway.

I hope to God we don't wind up regretting this.

Don't be taken in by the "he did this well at USC." It was Norm Chow, not Kiffin, who did that. Kiffin's first year as an OC was 2005, when the Leinart-Bush-White juggernaut was already in place. Keep in mind he's the same guy who only got nine points on UCLA's terrible defense in 2006 that cost the Trojans a shot at Ohio State.

And the 'he almost beat us in 2009' doesn't impress me, either. He was playing a team that had played EIGHT STRAIGHT GAMES, including coming off a slugfest emotional win with USCe while Kiffin had two weeks to prepare. Despite these advantages, his high-powered offense got all of THREE points in 57 minutes before a rush drive, an onside kick recovery and a block for the ages.

The one positive is that he won't be talking to the media. Btw - I do hold Nussmeier particularly accountable for the 2012 aTm unimaginative play-calling at the very end. Almost anybody could have done better there than he did. I blame him a little less for the Auburn debacle because he was only part of what went wrong.

It's win win hire for us & Kiffin..We needed an upgrade at OC(I don't mean that in a bad way toward Coach Nuss) & I truly think Kiffin will be a upgrade..And Kiffin needs a fresh start in rebuilding his image & if he follows Coach Saban rules by keeping out of the media..I have no doubts he will land another HC'ing job one day..It's great hire for all involved..JMHO
