Cyko and Hubbard should stay IMO. I know Hubbard has the measurables for a first round grade but he's never really put it all together on the field. Not saying he has played bad but I don't think he's dominated. Same thing for Cyko. He didn't play bad this year, maybe just a little underwhelming relative to what his preseason expectations were. Haha should definitely go.
Amen, brother...

I think Hubbard - who has all the tools - could elevate his status.

Sadly, I'm not optimistic, as apparently he was on the cusp of leaving after last season...

I think Dix and CK are no brainers. both will be 1st rounders. just cant turn down that money. Hubbard IMO just has reached his ceiling for the college game. great measurables, but is normally lost in the shuffle when it comes to making big plays. having said that though i think he's gone. even 2nd round money is better than struggling or barely making it. pagan should return. He'd be a late pick. Depriest will be interesting. he came on strong towards the end of the season. with a strong combine i could see him going by round 3 which isnt awful. just depends on what he wants to do.
Two plays stand out to me from IB ... 4th quarter failed 4th down attempt when TJ got rocked (terrible play call for that defense) and the return ... Looked like we had a couple of guys who had a shot and whiffed.

I think our only hope to keep CyKo next year is if his parents want him to play 1 more year next to his brother - or if that is something that he personally wants.
After reading that article about the brothers and their family, I don't think there is any chance he's coming back. He talked about looking forward to giving back to his dad who has worked so hard.. Can't blame him one bit for going if the money is there

To those who leave, I wish them the best of luck. As someone said earlier in the thread, we don't know the true family circumstances of these players, so it would be totally unfair of us to criticize them for helping their families out.

For those who choose to stay, thank you and the best of luck that they don't have a serious injury in their final year and they play lights out in 2014.

You have to remember CyKo is already one knee surgery down. I know his parents out a premium on education (which he may graduate early) but I'd think they would also understand the benefits of generational wealth for their son's family and future.

Cyrus and Arie have both had injuries in their career. I think that weighs heavy on the decision. It would be a surprise if he returned. Welcomed but unexpected.

Cyrus is being projected as high as 5 and no lower than 15 from the people I typically get draft info from. There are going to be a lot of teams in the market for tackles, including quite a few of the better teams that will be drafting lower than 15 that will be looking to trade up.

And that's what it really will come down to -- where he's projected by the draft advisory board. If he gets a projection higher than 20 I don't think there's a chance he'll come back. If it's 20 or below, maybe, but Alabama is preparing for him being gone.

Hubbard nearly left last year as a RS sophomore. I think he's gone, and Clinton-Dix is pretty much a sure bet as well.

The question marks are guys like DePriest and Pagan. I'm sure Pagan is at least thinking about it, and the fact the coaches basically burned his freshman year when it wasn't really needed tells you they've always thought he was a draft flight risk. His production doesn't seem to merit it, but then again, neither does Hubbard's. DePriest got a lot better this year and particularly improved over the second half of the year, but I think he'd do better to come back and be the featured player in the LB unit rather than worry about whether he elevated a 4th-round grade.

If DeAndrew White's production hadn't tailed off in the second half, he might have been a possibility. I think Christion Jones comes back, if for no other reason than he lacks the elite height and could benefit a lot by getting more attention from the QB next year. Plus -- and we have to consider this possibility -- if Blake Sims ends up the QB, I would expect a lot more zone-read stuff with the slot receivers getting some touches in the running game. I also expect Ivory, A.Kouandjio and the rest of the eligible guys to come back.

Yeah, I got the feeling that Hubbard really thought 2012 was going to be his peak of performance within the defense. He didn't have anywhere close to the same production this season though. I struggle to see how he would be above the 3rd round. He's not an elite edge rusher - good but not premier - and he's not some sideline-to-sideline backer in pass coverage either. Couple that fact with several good OLB types out there ahead of him, I think his best case is development in his senior year.

But sometimes guys get flighty and I'm not going to fault them for chasing even mid-round money.

To be honest about it, I think Hubbard is in the wrong system. I think they took him with the idea of making him a Jack linebacker, but his best position is probably weakside end in a 4-3. I don't think coming back is going to make much of a difference for him.

It's odd because he spent most of his career playing at Sam instead of Jack too. Of course, by so rarely being in 34 base, he effectively got a lot snaps in rabbit rush and where the Jack would line up on the weak-side in nickel/dime.

I think almost everyone who can will go. We even had guys Not drafted make teams so the minimum is still good money. Also a lot of our guys can be just tired of it all. They work really hard for no money & have already go 2 NC rings. What else do they need to prove.

As fans we want to see them satay 5 years like AJ but it's not realistic.

Thank them for their time at the Capstone & let them go on & make some money.

3 years of Saban is pretty good preparation for the NFL.

In the case of CK, the decision is basically already made, if it's anywhere in the 1st round. He (they, really) are very much aware of the hazards involved in staying, particularly with both brothers having already had knee issues...

For that matter, I'd wager a week with Saban would be priceless for anyone's career no matter what they do.

I agree, we may see more juniors leave than we normally do and even some that are probably not ready for the NFL. I look at some of the guys and I'm not sure if they come back for one more year that they are going to help themselves much. Obviously for CyKo and Haha it is a no-brainer because they will be high draft picks unless Haha's injury causes his stock to drop but my guess is he will still grade fairly high with the scouts. I could see Pagan, Depriest, Jones, and White all going out early. With a big bowl game any of these guys, but especially Pagan, could improve their draft status.
