If Ainge gets all day to throw like Ole Miss had today, its going to be ugly for us.If the coaches come up with a scheme to get some pressure its going to be another close one down to the wire.We were right there with them in Knoxville until the 4th qtr last year.I think we are a better team now than we were then.If we could hang last year,I dont see any reason to think we cant this time around.I guess im confident we will find a way at home.Plus we are undefeated on LF.LOL

I can't in good conscience pick UT to win even if they look better than we do so far.

We are at home and look better than last week despite playing a better opponent (I think) in a hostile environment.

What we need, though, is an off week. That's why I think we have a shot against LSU. We just need a weekend off so we can address some of the problems we have.

Bama wins 20-17.

I just don't like the way we are playing.

Before the season started and up until a couple of weeks ago this is a game I said we would win. I don't feel nearly as good about it now.:mad2:

I guess the positive side is we were losing all the close games under Shula and now we are winning some of them. I think winning these close games, no matter who they are against, are going to pay off for us down the road although I wish we could put teams away. I'm getting too old for these nail biters.

Two weeks ago we were outplayed for about 55 minutes against an average FSU team. Last week we were outplayed by a mediocre Houston team for 45 minutes. Today we played a below average Ole Miss team - but we played at a more consistent level, showed some fight and won in a hostile environment.

We are going to have to do some things we haven't done a lot of to win, but we can. Ainge has only been sacked ONCE this year. UT did give up 22 to a pretty bad MSU team so we can get points. We just need to pressure them and slow down their improving run game and we'll be in the hunt and if we're in the hunt we can pull it out.

Let me put it this way: there is a very good chance that I won't be participating on the game thread. (The only time I miss one is if I'm watching the PPV at Kooter's.) I almost always keep my cool on the thread, but I don't know if I will be able to against UT. We shall see. Teams I really hate always seem to bring out the worst in me.

The main difference is that CMS' teams almost always underperformed their talent level (look at the NFL rosters, if you don't want to believe me). So far, CNS's team has overperformed its talent level, which will be shown by the NFL draft. The NFL draft is not the be-all, end-all, but it does show you roughly what basic talent level you're dealing with...

Well, so far my predictions this season have all turned out correct... but the next three big games are going to really threaten that. I've predicted a win against Tennessee, followed by losses to LSU and Auburn. Although I really dislike Alabama's chances, I'll stick with my prediction.

Alabama wins in an upset!

Exactly...

Arkansas had more talent and Vandy and Ole Miss are on our level,

We shouldn't have beat Arkansas and b/c Vandy and Ole Miss were on the road -- we should have lost those as well.

This Alabama team has ALOT of heart but not alot of talent, barring a few individuals, but Coach Saban has motivated these guys to play above their talent level and he has pulled a few rabbits out of his hat this season.

Tennessee is bigger, stronger and more physical -- but I hope we win!

Right now, I'm more worried about defense than offense, particularly against UT. Until recently, I was expecting a win vs. UT. My thinking was that, surprisingly, our strength this year has been defense, not offense as most were expecting. UT's strength all season has been an explosive offense. But most of the season, they've not been able to stop anyone from scoring. Until the last couple of weeks, I've been expecting a Bama win in a shootout: 35-24 ish(?)

But IMO, for 4 out of the last 5 games (with Houston being the exception), it's been the Bama D that has been a bit too soft, allowing more yards and points than we should, relative to our and their ability. IMO, we're trending level to slightly downward on offense and decidedly downward on defense (which is to be expected this year with lack of depth). At the same time, UT's defense seems to have awakened - looks like a completely different team over the past couple of games, while their offense has remained potent. And I think that UT confidence may also be renewed, while Bama's may be waning.

So even though, by my calculations, the numbers still project a close Bama win, my feeling is that UT is a different (and much improved) team over the last couple of weeks. Hate to admit it to myself, but right now I'm thinking:

UT: 35
Bama: 27

That said, if we rise to the occasion (which we ARE capable of), I wouldn't be shocked by:

Bama: 33
UT: 30

Either way, it should be high-scoring, close, tense and worthy of the traditional SEC rivalry. I'm expecting another last-second heart attack game. Uggh!

Tennessee seems to be looking better and better, and is gonna be a huge challenge. A few keys:

-We've got to shut down their suddenly revitilized rushing game... it's been huge in their past two wins
-Watch for RBs and H-Backs slipping out of the backfield, they've burnt teams using Coker as a receiving option, and Chris Brown has been steady and dangerous. We've seemed vulnerable to these quick types of passes UT likes to go with... I hope we're not on Saturday.
-If the running is working, we can't steer away from it. JPW has shown that he can do a fine enough bit of passing so long as we have the running game supporting him (not only yesterday), so this element can't be missing and can't be opted out of.
-We just can't fumble (especially on the 5), have punts blocked, have huge penalties (...especially on the 5), miss wide open receivers in the redzone, drop balls, etc. against UT. Let them be the team to make the mistakes.

you including the offense? I agree about the defense, they've played out of their minds and over their heads at times; and other times they've looked bad. The offense? I think they've underperformed for the better part of the season.
