Obviously I need some help from the old-timers.

QB-Bart Starr
QB-Joe Namath
QB-Ken Stabler Nice depth @ QB
FB-Kevin Turner
RB-Shaun Alexander
RB-Bobby Humphrey
TE-Ozzie Newsome
WR- ?
WR- ?
T-Chris Samuels
T-Jess Richardson
C-Dwight Stevenson
G-John Hannah
G-Billy Neighbors
P-Chris Mohr
K- ?

NT-Curt Jarvis (only one listed)
DE-John Hand
DE-Marty Lyons
DT-Bob Baumhower
DT-Terry Jones Sr.
LB-Woodrow Lowe
LB-Cornelius Bennett
LB-Lee Roy Jordan
LB-Derrick Thomas
DB-Sam Shade
DB-George Teague
CB-Mark McMillan
CB-John Mangum

Fill in the blanks and make changes, this is just my opinion.

2005 Final 4, ROLL TIDE!

Never saw him play, but I think you'd have to find a place for Harry Gilmer. In 1946 He led the TIDE in passing, rushing, punt returns, kickoff returns and interceptions.

Don Hutson would have to be one of the first on the list. He was reportedly almost as good a DB as a WR and he was an all-world WR.

Ray Ogden and Wayne Wheeler were receivers, Howard Cross was a TE. Van Tiffin kicked for the Cowboys (?) as a replacement player. Johnny Musso was a RB, Sylvester Croom actually started a game at center with Archie being his QB. John Patterson played DT for the Chargers. Larry Roberts was a DL for the 49ers, and Eric McMillen was a tough (though undersized) DB known affectionatly as "Lucky Charms" RTR

Remove Mangum from the DB list and insert Deshea Townsend. While Penn State has been dubbed "Linebacker U," add Antonio Londen to this list and Bama has been right with the Nittany Lions.

David Ray kicked for the LA Rams, and was pretty good

a few others - Mike Pitts, DT Bob Cryder, G Sid Youngelman, OL/DL

Have to remove Mark McMillan and replace him with Jeremiah Castille.

Agree about Townsend replacing Mangum.

As good as Curt was, too bad we didn't get Rick Burgess, he OWNED Jarvis in high school. ;)

I think I'll weigh in on this one. I played against Curt Jarvis in high school and he was a monster back then (today his size seems to be more commonplace). I did think that he seemed to lack a little fire in the belly in high school (maybe he was playing down to his competition), but he was great anyway. When Oxford went to Gardendale for the first round of the state playoffs, I decided to see what ole Rick Burgess could do with him. First offensive play for Oxford and Rick put Curt flat on his back. The people I was with and I could not believe it. Needless to say Curt had a great career at Bama and the pros, and Rick went to Troy State for one year, transferred to Jax State and gave up football.

Yes, you are correct. But if you are "In the Loop," you know why I posted that. Stay in it!!

My understanding is that to be on this list, the players would have to have played at Alabama and in the NFL. Two names that I haven't seen yet (I may have missed them when looking through the posts):
Tony Nathan-RB
EJ Junior-LB

Wilbur Jackson and Johnny Davis also deserve mentioning at RB.

That play when Mangum failed to get his hands up and let the ball get by him, costing Bama the bowl game vs Michigan, automatically disqualifies him imho. :p

Wasn't Langham a CB? If so, I'd put him over Townshend.

Explanation.......................

Van Tiffin and Lane Bearden, were great at Bama. The point of this thread is Bama players in the NFL. Meaning Bama players who had good NFL careers.

Sorry, but I'm not "in the loop". Unfortunately, I had to give up roller coasters a long time ago. I hate it, too.
