Ok. I'm pretty sure I know the general game plan against the barn. On Offense: establish the run, control the clock, protect the ball, and score enough points to win. On Defense: stop the run, play disciplined in pass defense, limit big plays, and create turnovers. On Special Teams: make big plays and don't give up any.

Past that, what are some of the specifics of the game plan? Will we try to work on the passing game even if we're able to run at will? Will we see any "wrinkles" in the offense?

If I were calling the plays, which I'm not, I would definitely try to work on the passing game. I would also throw in some "wrinkles" to give Florida something else to look at. I would get John Parker out on some bootleg run/pass option plays. I would attempt at least 4-5 deep passes. I would try to get the ball to the backs running a couple wheel routes, and work some on screens. Probably about 60/40 passing. I think we need the offense, especially the passing game, to get in a rhythm next week if for no other reason than we will need them playing with confidence the following week against Florida.

On Defense, will we see a different scheme or additional blitz packages?

If I were calling the Defense, which of course I'm not, I would almost sell out to stop the run. I would play a lot of Cover 1 Man and Cover 1 Robber, while pinching the outside linebackers and giving Rolando the middle gaps. Even on passing downs. This would almost guarantee a non-existent running game for the barn and put pressure on Burns on passing downs. Burns has the arm strength to burn you if given enough time. I don't think he has the accuracy or, to be quite honest, the mental fortitude to burn you in man coverage when he's under pressure. I'd sprinkle in a few zone blitzes and drop 8 into coverage on a few 2nd and 3rd and long plays to keep them honest, but I'd play man about 75% of the time.

What do you guys think? Will we see anything different on Offense or Defense? Would my game plan work? What would you do?

P.S.(I'd really like to hear JessN's take on this.)

Offense: Pound, Pound, Pound .....
Pass as(if) needed to maintain the drives, but I would definantly run, run, run. Sure, every now and then sprinkle in a 1st down pass (Georgia showed you can chew up that defense with short outs all night) but I want that D huffing and puffing in the 3rd quarter. (4+4+4=First Down)

Defense: There wouldn't be 1 play that I wouldn't send at least 1 extra after the qb. D-Line should expect run first, and be prepared for burns to try to run. With Mount Cody clogging the middle - burns will have to try to get to the corners. Our LBs have the speed to cut them off. Either way - hit the qb , hit him hard, and hit him often! If burns has to pass to move the ball - it will be a qood day for our D!

Special Teams: When punting - Max protect and hold run lanes in coverage. When returning - go for block. Nothing would be bigger than an early score with a block and return. And Arenas - hold on the the ball and do what you do best!

Coming off a bye week you can do alot. Remember after the last bye week Mt. Cody turned into a FB. You never know. Javy may end up running a Stampeding Elephant (i.e. wild hog) formation. Not saying that will happen, but it could. I am sure there will be a wrinkle or two. CNS will have something cooked up. However, so will Tommy Twotubs. All out nothing to loss type attack. But in the end desperation losses ballgames. RTR.

If I were coaching , which obviously I ain't, I would show as little as possible. I don't want Fla to have a clue as to what we're gonna throw at them. I would love to see BAMA just run the ball down their throats and give Julio a touchdown and call it a day and come out against Fla with stuff we haven't run much of all season.
Just my uneducated coaching opinion.
Whatever we do I hope we just physically BEAT Awbarn.

I don't know, but I really want to crush them. A win by 1 over Miss State would have been fine, and it will do here as well - but I am hoping for a beat down of epic proportions...

Personally I have not liked our first half gameplan since the ucheat game, too much passing and not enough pounding. We seem to be getting it right in the second half now but we need 4 qtrs of pounding the rock and just wear down the barn for the second half.

Passing is okay once in a while but I would love to see a streak pass to Maze on the first play if we are going to pass it. If not then lets just go Ace set and give them some running and then some more and more etc..........

On defense the way to beat the barn is play gap control defense, their OL is not great and burns loves to tuck and run at the first sign of pressure so come at him with a front 4 man rush and cover the gaps and outside cause we all know Mt. Cody has the middle just need to take care of the gaps and outside lanes.

We should do nothing more than we have all year on defense, the barn is not exactly lighting up the scoreboard so no need to get fancy just hit them and be twice as physical.

Key to me for this game is for us to score early and keep pounding the rock if we can get up by 14 then it changes their entire gameplan cause they should have trouble even getting 7..... Not exactly Stafford sitting back there throwing the ball and the only time the barns WR's get open is on blown coverage and wheel routes out of the backfield. Use the same mindset we did against lswho, load the box and make their QB win the game which I am sure is exactly what they plan to try and do to us, only difference is we can run even when the box is loaded and JPW is not too bad on the short and mid-range passes so we shall see.
I fully expect them to play a safety over the top of JJ and commit to stopping the run which will mean someone other than JJ will have to step up and make some plays which hopefully Hanks will have his coming out party cause the kid has mad skills and great hands, plus the TE should be a major target in this game the barn does not cover the TE very well.

UF already has a good idea of what we'll bring to ATL. We aren't going to change offensive and defensive systems in the next two weeks. If we're talking about which game to save those one or two "gadget" plays for, obviously it would be the UF game, but championships aren't won with gadgets. Championships are won by playing ALABAMA FOOTBALL. All we have to do is bring it.

Keep doing what we've been doing, it's obviously been successful. The key now is execution. If we execute our schemes on offense and defense we'll be tough for anyone to beat.

Save the fancy stuff for Florida. We can and will run a HB dive off left guard on Auburn for 4 yards a carry every time.
I agree. I think our gameplan for Auburn will be simple, and thats wear them down with the run. No doubt Auburn is fast on defense, and we'll run straight at them. Mix in some playaction pass, and throw on 1st down some. The first time that we get down on their goalline I'd love to see Cody come in as lead blocker, and run behind Smith. It will be awesome watching those guys cave in their defensive line, and I hope we run that package against them. Hopefully we'll play safe smart football, and break their will early. This game is ours to lose. Alabama just needs to go out, and take care of business. Just keep it simple. Everything will be alright!

My Aubie friend who has his JD from Bama tells me we are going to smoke them. I wonder if Tubby has someone reading this board to prepare for us!
