Dear Mack,

Hope all is going well down in Austin. As we say in Alabama "beef, it's what's for dinner." Oh, and we also say, "Roll Tide." I'm having a little trouble seeing and concentrating on writing this letter since, you know, that glistening crystal ball keeps shining right into my line of vision. However, I have some bones to pick with you.

However, I'm going to be nice and ask you to lay off your constant whining about Colt McCoy. Alabama fans most assuredly can sympathize with the argument that says, "Maybe if.." We play it all the time. Maybe if the news media wasn't so favorable to Notre Dame then we would have won the 1977 national championship. But please note how we responded. We didn't cry about how we'd been wronged.

We just went out and won 42 of our next 43 games and 2 national titles. You have the potential to do that, especially since next year you get rid of Nebraska.

Speaking of Nebraska, Mack, I couldn't help but notice Colt McCoy's first five plays against the Huskers:

1) 25 yard complete pass to Tre Newton
2) Interception
3) 4 yard complete pass to Tre Newton
4) 1 yard rush by Tre Newton
5) Incomplete pass to James Korkendoll

So in five plays McCoy was 2 for 4 with an interception and 29 yards passing.

He only had 184 for the entire game, meaning that he after that first big play - when, you know "he had them all figured out" - he only passed for 156 yards. And given that Alabama's defense is a ton better than Nebraska's (want proof? Compare the Va Tech games of the two teams), why keep up the whining?

Y'know, Mack, I used to like you. First you whined in 2004 over the BCS thing with Cal. Now I understand that one and actually think you were right. But now you've made whining your second job. First it's Colt McCoy and now it's Vince Young winning a retroactive Heisman. Did you go to Auburn or something? They have the same problem.

Mack, I think you're a pretty smart football guy - so tell me.

1) How was Colt McCoy going to stop the two 100-yard rushers we threw at your "best run defense in the land?"

2) Who called that stupid shovel pass play that gave us a 24-6 lead, Mack?

3) Finally - even after all that - with 3:14 left you were down by 3 and had the ball and a QB with a hot hand.

You know the only difference in the outcome? If McCoy had played then when you got the ball for that final drive, Javier Arenas would have intercepted it and run it back for a touchdown.

So I'm asking REAL nice Mackie - give it a rest. Want to prove you're champions? Go unbeaten this year.

You just might have another date with the Crimson and White.

Great job. Two important things you left out: (1) Namath scored, but we weren't still crying about it at the beginning of the next season; and (2) I haven't heard Bob Stoops crying and saying they would have won if Bradford hadn't gotten hurt.

Too bad Mack didn't "figure out" that he should have had a running back running the ball instead of his single experienced QB around which his entire offense was built.

I wonder if Colt knew that he "was fixing to" have a dead arm for a few days? He apparently knew everything else that was going to happen that night.

I'm not sure why he didn't play. Let's say he throws a long pass and can't hit the endzone. Is that any different than when he's healthy?

Oops. I forgot the PS

PS - I also forgot you cried about Oklahoma getting to play Florida just last year. Is it a genetic thing, Mack?

The big blunder by Texas was them thinking their #1 ranked rushing defense was their golden parachute. What they didn't check is who was #1 before they were #1, it was Florida in the SEC Championship Game and we destroyed them too. Back to back #1 rushing defenses pounded for over 200 yards each has that ever been done before?

Colt McCoy - "Why did Dareus have to be so mean to me? And Ingram stole my Heisman!"
Mack Brown - "Son it ain't your fault. They cheat and you will show them when you get into the NFL whose best! Now wipe those tears from your eyes it will be OK."
