Anyone know What injury Ryan is dealing with?

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

I know I sound like an old fart saying this, but I wish they didn't have all these distractions.

I know they get paid for all this stuff, and that's fine, but I would think that the more time they spend doing this kind of stuff, the less time they're spending on game preparation.
These Gen Z kids blow my mind with the amount of bandwidth they push. My 14 year-old grandson is already (9th Grade) in a "College Pathways" program, in which he's earning college credits ... competes in Robotics challenges with his team of nerds ... he's First Chair in the Youth Symphony for his instrument ... active in Civil Air Patrol ... bagged a (large) elk cow already this season ... and is waiting to learn if he got a bear tag this season(!) ... is always doing events with his church Youth Group. Just writing all that tired ME out!

I would also say less time on school, but I have my doubts about how much schooling any of these guys do anymore.
These kids who seem to be a lock for the NFL appear to have solid futures (for which I pray they are hiring very solid financial advisors). But I wonder what the players who do NOT have a clear NFL path will be doing? They, too, strike me as "skating" through the schooling.

I hope I'm wrong.

To your last sentence, I really don’t think ( one of those things that you would love to be wrong about) that school per se is much of a concern anymore. When was the last time anyone heard of a player not playing due to academic insufficiency? I honestly can’t remember.

So I’m rewatching Vandy game. Missed most of it due to a wedding. Ryan has the black tape coming down the back of his left leg below his knee. So I’m betting whatever he did prior to FSU is going to be chronic for the season.

Sadly, it’s been a long time since I’ve heard academics being mentioned at all. Used to be a big deal with recruiting but apparently the NCAA decided it was low priority.

At this point, universities are really just funding minor league football. It's been a long time since football was an extra curricular activity for the university.
