Are we really losing the "War"

This is a topic I'm very reluctant to talk about but it's one that is really bothering me. Are we really losing the "War" as Lowder claimed? Believe me, I don't take to account anything that comes or came out of that guys mouth, but I'm beginning to maybe see that he might be right. Let me give an example. I live in Madison and work in Huntsville and 2 out of 3 cars on the road either has a Barn license plate or a tag on the front. I know this area is big for engineers which explains some of it, but the number seems to be growing daily. Another example is this, I work with several Barn fans/alumni and they all say the BAMA is a "has been" program and that AU is becoming the premier program in the state. Now I don't believe that for one second but given they have beaten us the last two years and probably this year too, it makes me very uncomfortable. I know our NCAA crap had a lot to do with that, so that eases my mind somewhat. Also, several ex-BAMA fans I know are sporting the Barn colors and are becoming obnoxious about it. Now I'm a third generation BAMA fan and will be till the day I die, but I was just wondering if anyone else see's a transition happening and wonder if maybe I'm just getting too nervous about nothing. Let me know what you guys think.

Roll Tide.... Forever!!!

That's just silly.

Every time Bama has a few rough years the boogs start this "has been" crap. While Bama has been down - what has au done? Nothing. They haven't even won the division much less a SEC Championship. They haven't won 10 games in a season since bowdens 11-0 year. Quite the "premier program" huh?

Bama still owns the state as evidenced by this years recruiting class. We'll be back and sooner than many think.

No way..... UA will always have more fans in state and abroad, take in the big picture when you leave the state borders, our fan base is way bigger.... don't kid yourself.

I wish that SI would have asked that question in their state reports, they did in Mittittippi... and MSU was the biggest supported. I wonder why SI did not do that here? I bet it would be 65% -35% in favor of UA with Troy and UAB maybe getting a few of the lower 35%.....

We not only have the graduates, but we have graduates from AU (I graduated from AU), I'm sure UA has a few Barn fans (like that cheerleader), but not near as many as AU has on their campus, I knew several friends that were UA fans and went AU like me. Heck my wife was in the AU band, we have an AU Alumni tag on our car, so don't always judge a bokk by the cover, I am an exception... Roll Tide...

Heck I cheered against AU in their own student section, the fight song giv'em hell, giv'em hell stand up and yell... when it came to that part heck me and some other guys would satnd up and say what's that smell, what's that smell (to the same tune) and point to the direction of the ag compound and the cow pasture directly across the highway from AU's practice field....

3rd post + Script A + negative post = Barner.

I live in Birmingham and see plenty of Auburn tags and probably more than Alabama. That does not mean they now own the Ham.

Auburn can keep the so-called "Alabama fans" now wearing Auburn clothes. That is laughable.

By the way it was David Housel, the former AD, who made the delusional statement in the 2002 pre Iron Bowl speech that Auburn was winning the war, not Bobby Lowder.

I think he also made a veiled reference to Alabama being "Nazis" in that speech and Auburn was the "Allies." What a pathetic POS. David Housel and Auburn deserve each other.

I believe we have been dealt a terrible hand the past few years and therefore, it has shown with fair weather fans, Aubies proclaiming they are far superior, etc.

I think it is important to understand the jealousy these programs have for us also. We have noticed a flip side the past two years with Oklahoma. In that case it came to be a mutual respect between both teams and fan bases. With other schools, it has been pure jealousy. The programs that have lasted through the years want to beat each other, but they respect each other.

Use this theory also. Do you think a person sitting in Wherever, Colorado knows where Auburn is? But I guarantee you they know what Alabama football is!

We have tradition, and if the name of Paul "Bear" Bryant happens to come up, then even better.

Auburn has major problems. I can sit here and say that Auburn should have absolutely been killing us because of the coaching changes, sanctions, embarassments, etc. If I could have talked to the Auburn BOT before they got on that plane, I would have told them that it is easy to fire Tuberville. You can say that all the sanctions, etc. kept Alabama from getting the likes of Jamarcus Russell, etc. What's Auburn's excuse? Haven't they been able to recruit fully on all scholarships? Hasn't their head coach been there for a bit longer than our coach 3 coaches back? And yet, they are right in the middle of controversy. Think about it!

There are Auburn folks out there who just hate us, and hate us so much you can't even have a conversation with them. There are fans like that everywhere, even at Vanderbilt!

Let them have the fair weather fans, let them have the (*) by the Terry Bowden National Championship, let them have their DuBose, Price, Franchione jokes. Let them say Mike Shula won't last. Let them want to fire Tuberville and then the next week want to keep him, let them talk about owning Bryant-Denny or being the best team in the state. . .

Let us put on the jerseys and win with class! Roll Tide!

We have to expect that sort of thing from AU people, they are jealous and envious of our tradition and can only dream of the success we've experienced in the past. As far as the future is concerned, no one knows for certain what lies ahead, but there is no reason to believe that the Tide won't return to it's winning tradition. Do the people who say that Bama is a "has been" program also say that Notre Dame and Penn State, etc, are has been's.Did these people also say that Oklahoma,Texas and So.Cal. were "has been" programs. The truth is that most of Bama's gloom and doom predictors are merely fantasying that their team won't be kicked around in the coming years the way it has been for most of their lives.

The Barn have had their chance over the last decade to place their collective foot on our necks and push us into the dirt, by recruiting standards and all the rest. What do they have to show for this huge advantage? Why, co-SEC West Champions (complete with rings). What's their problem? Well, we criticize our leadership, but, buddies, just look across the state. If you ain't Lowder butt-stamped, you're, well "yella" - like "nanners." What a bunch of clowns...

Script, I must live in a different part of Huntsville than you, cause I don't see that many barn plates or anything else related to them. I see much more UT crap than auburn stuff. Also, to suggest they are "winning the war" is ridiculous, because there is no war. Look at the posts on all the boards, and ask yourself, who gives a flip about auburn? We are at war with the hillbillies up to the north, the barners to the southeast are too pathetic to hate. I consider UAB more of a threat.
