I'm a little worried about us overlooking Arkansas. Yes, we waxed South Carolina this weekend, but I have a feeling SC is not very good. The UCF team that hung with them in week 1 got blown out this weekend by South Florida. Also, everyone may think Georgia is better than what they really are.

This is a huge game this weekend because its an SEC West opponent who beat us last year. A win puts us atop the SEC West. If we were to lose, then the hammer will come down on Shula hard and all the praise we have gotten this week will be turned around on us 10 fold the following week. We must take care of business and not overlook Arkansas!

Anything can happen in the SEC. Just think about last year. Who would have ever thought MSU could beat Florida, but it happened. We don't need to make the same mistake and not show up this weekend because this game is to important. A loss could kill our momentum and really hurt our season.

I agree that Arkansas is a classic "trap" game, with us coming off a big win, them coming off a humiliating loss, and with us looking ahead to Florida. Usually Nutt has them ready to play us, but losing to both Vandy and USC has got to have taken a toll on the team's psyche.

But there are couple of things that will keep this from happening, IMO:

  • The memory of our last two games against the Hogs
  • The OL's desire to prove that their performance against USC wasn't a fluke
  • WRs wanting to make amends for some egregious drops
  • DBs wanting to make amends for some egregious drops

The trick is to turn the game inward. The goal isn't to beat Arkansas, its to play better than they played last week. If they do that, then beating Arkansas will take care of itself.

The Arkansas boards are in full meltdown. Most are predicting a b****-slap of epic proportions. One guy said that they would have a chance if they took out Brodie--apart from the classlessness of the comment, I guess that he didn't see that ball JPW threw to Keith Brown. Damn, but that was pretty. As opposed to the ball that Brodie threw to Knight, which was just freaking scary. That was a laser beam of a throw.

I agree...

100%. This is a must win game. Granted we should take care of the little "piggies", we must not look ahead to UF. THat week will come soon enough. I just hope the coaching staff has the troops focused on Arky, so BAMA can take care of business and be 4-0 and "inching" up the polls.
ROLL TIDE!!!

No kidding. I think a large majority of collegiate wide receivers would have seen that ball fly right through their hands. It would have taken mine off. :biggrin2:

Pro scouts/receivers on the other hand were probably drooling...

As far as overlooking Arkansas...the fans might be overlooking them, but the team will not.

This year's Arkansas game reminds me alot of the Arkansas game in 2002. Though the game was in Fayetteville, there was the growing hype of the Georgia game the following week and the fact that the Gameday crew would probably be there. Also, it's probably the last time anyone even gave a thought to Alabama potentially looking past an opponent.

Any "looking past" Arkansas will most certainly be generated from fans only. The players and coaches remember 2003 and 2004 bitterly and would like nothing more than some payback.
