Just read that very thing on my twitter feed via J. Newberg of ESPN. This is HUGE if true.

And I agree, I'm not sure Ms. Terry isn't just as good of a recruiter as Nick is. Put her in a room with Ms./Mrs. Clowney for 30 minutes and I say our chances go up exponentially.
Just to clarify, Shannon Terry is a guy.

I think if Clowney could pick without worrying about his mother he would pick Bama but she has wanted him close to home. If this visit can convince her otherwise or if her son can show her how happy he would be at Bama then I think we've got a great shot

Assuming JC does not know about it of course, would it be a violation if CNS sent a magic carpet to SC to pick up JC's mom for each game. If too risky, I live in SC and can drive her over for each game.

I think that since you do not "know" her then that would be a violation. Of course, there is the always solid fall back of "I didn't know I couldn't do that"

That'd probably be an impermissible benefit. Normally, the parents are the child and vice versa in terms of receiving benefits/ eligibility issues (see the Bush/ U$C problems), even tho the Cam issue didn't turn out that way (yet at least).

Reading this got me thinking. What IF, someone from the SC area had a 15 passenger van & offered rides to the games and she went with random people. Is that a violation? I'm not up on my rules..if it is against them, don't worry, I live in Florence...Alabama!

If Bama even "called" a cab we would be under investigation and probably lose 200 scollys. Aubbie on the other hand can pay for transportation costs, admit it, and have nothing happen.

Would it be weird to facebook message this guy and wish him a good time in T-town and Roll Tide before he goes to visit? Part of me thinks the campus and us as fans should do everything possible to make him feel welcome and happy to even have stepped into Tuscaloosa, but part of me thinks a facebook message is creepy and may backfire. Let me know what you guys think.

As much as Alabama and other top programs are in the spotlight, I would literally run away from doing anything that even remotely appeared questionable. Our society is so different now. Everybody has a camera. Everybody is connected. We live in a 24/7 new environment where news immediately is reported. Yeesh. I knew within 30 minutes of Les sending a text message to the AD that he was staying. So I would not as much a breath in a questionable direction if I thought for one second it would get the Bama program in trouble. I just have to trust that CNS will work all that out with no help from me.

maybe he is getting turned off by them hopefully anyways.
Clowney is being harrassed by fans of all schools, including Bama. When middle-aged men go on his FB and beg him to come to their school, that's pathetic. However, the USC mods are talking about those guys, especially the younger ones, imo, who think they are scooping the lastest on Clowney, and then go back to their boards to report tidbits. It's also a free vs pay info deal if you ask me. Theses guys were described as "amateur recruiting experts." You could call them wannabes. The first guy to address it runs a big pay site. Still, I think everybody harrasses him, paid people included.

IMO yes, that is stalking. If you are not a real friend why intrude or impose on his life in any way. Personal greetings during chance encounters or a meeting are one thing but electronic or social media is a whole other thing. Let the recruiting staff do the recruiting. The fans should just be observers of the recruitment not participants. Again jmofwiw

+1. Fans probably do more harm than good with stuff like that. I'll let the BOL staff harass recruits for comments for articles and just enjoy the articles on there or the ones our mods post on here.
