Geeze guys, I go to work for a day and you put up 5 pages of Clowney posts!

I read this to my wife... she said, "I don't like that guy". :rolleye2:

Agreed. What else can we say other then "lets wait and see". Or... we can have 3 more posts stating that he's waiting until Feb 14th to announce.

USC3521... I blame you for 5 additional pages. That said, I don't know why people are jumping all over you. In fact, other than "USC rules because we lost 5 games!", I basically agree w/ what you're saying. The fact is that USCe has a solid team returning, Clowney can make them better, they're the home team, they have a great defense, etc, etc. While I think he would be better off at Bama, he's going to be a stud and eventually, an NFL stud by going to either school. However, I do think that having the talent that we have around him will open up additional holes for him to make huge impact plays. I for one welcome you... Try to stick around.... makes things more interesting.

Tell your wife I'm joking! That's why they invented DVR haha

Schedule surgery on the 13th. Break a leg. Drink some motor oil the morning of the 14th. Go to a daycare where there's been a flu outbreak, wipe your hands on everything, then suck on your fingers. You've got options here.
If, JC waits until after NSD to annnounce on Valentines Day then hopefully he will do it early in the morning. If he waits until after his birthday party, and into the night most of us will just have to chose to find out his decision after the fact.

I like recruiting as much as the next Tide fan but Valentines day is for the romance. I am pretty sure that is why NSD is on the first Wed in Feb so that everything is cleared up by Valentines Day. :D

Can Rumph do a in home visit after Saban already took one? I thought our limit on in home visits were up. I'm sure someone on this board will have that knowledge but that could be interesting rangerman

I do think the longer the recruitment goes post signing day the better chances Alabama has of signing him. I really have no good reason for saying that except if his mind was made up to go with USCe......then I would think he would go ahead and make his choice on signing day. That may not be good logic.

Are you kidding? No way ANY team turns away Clowney, I don't care if he waits until March 14th. But in the end it won't matter...

To me this is just more gamesmanship, marketing, and effort to hype and maximize his exposure when he announces--don't think USCe/Clowney family wants to squeeze every drop of national pub that they can out of this 3 second event--it is NOT because of needing more time to make a decision. They want a separate platform from all the others on NSD when he puts on the gamecock cap.
Am I kidding? Umm, I was asking a personal, educational question. I don't know all the rules, etc. concerning NSD and was under the false impression that NSD was the last day that kids signed. I enjoy the RECRUITING aspect greatly, but haven't educated myself in the length of the signing period.

The answers that followed gave me great insight into why a kid would wait and that it was no big deal for the #1 kid in the Nation. Now that I know that NSD isn't a deadline but a beginning, I completely understand the reason why JC wants to announce on his birthday. What a GREAT gift to give yourself, especially if the gift lands you in T-Town!

All I say on the potential delayed announcement is that if he ultimately goes in that direction and signs with 'Bama, hopefully he ends up being more successful than the other big-time guys who have delayed their announcements beyond NSD in recent years.

Terrelle Pryor: Solid, but nowhere near lived up to the hype
Janzen Jackson: Arrest has been his most significant accomplishment
Bryce Brown: Bust, transferred out a year later
Latwan Anderson: Bust, transferred out a year later
Seantrel Henderson: Signed with USC, transferred to a school where the coach was fired

Well, we at least have USCe worried about Clowney. Not that it matters because they can be wrong....but Bone thinks JC will end up at USCe but that we have a good shot at landing him. So I am just glad we have a good shot at the guy. He also seems to think we have a really good shot at MM from GA and Fulse from South Carolina. So we'll see how it shakes out but I doubt we'll have to worry about missing out on any romance on Valentine's Day. :)

Note to self... Do not mention romance on the recruiting board. ;)

Don't feel like looking it up, but I thought I'd read where Fulse either dropped us off his list, or committed elsewhere. Could be wrong, tho.

This logic has been applied to why it might be good for an in-state kid to wait as long as possible about announcing for an out-of-state school. If JC waits and chooses Bama it could be for the reason you suggest and that is to delay or shorten the amount of criticism he'll have to hear from the locals.
