i am not sure this kid would be good for bama. his actions make me think he has an over inflated self worth. not sure he could be a good team player and cns already has a class that will win 1-3 mnc over the next 4 years. i wish jc all the best but if he wants to win a mnc, it ain't gonna happen at usc. i believe he will announce for bama. its a lock. his ego will not allow him to stay home. can you imagine all the crap he will hear from usc fans as "why the h_ll you put us through this if usc was always your choice" no, this kid is a wild stallion and there is only one coach who could tame him and make him a champ. thats cns.
He'd be great for Bama and he truly seems to be a pretty level headed kid to me. He can't help it if ESPN is knocking his door down and he almost seems like the attention is a burden rather than an opportunity to be a media super star. His interview answers are short and sweet. There's no drama. To the point.
I have no criticism of this young man whatsoever.
If he chooses to go elsewhere I will pull for him with the exception of one game...lol
And that's if he's playing against Bama.
BUT....I still think he'll come to T-Town.
I think Coach Saban will get one chance to sit down with Mom...and I think Cyrus K. will call and they'll talk....and I think Jadaveon will be the exclamation point on what may be our best recruiting class ever.
If I'm wrong I'm wrong.
Regardless.....again....YES..he would be good for Bama. He would be GREAT for Bama, and with all due respect, I disagree with you on your first comment.
sip

No need to moooooooo, I'm all bama, I even named my daughter ally! What i said about him and clemson was from buddies in the know at usc. Fwiw besides why shoot someone down for basically saying its usc,and clem and we r out. Our class is awesome! RTR. I wasnt trying to be negative, I live and am surrounded by usc and clemson fans, these people live and breathe football also. They also have connections and know things about recruiting in the state of south carolina, much like surf and bet do on this site for alabama recruiting.

Can Coach Saban sit down with his mother again in South Carolina? I'm sure he can call (I think). But again, can he meet with JC and his mom again prior to Feb. 14????

What are the NCAA rules on this?

By the way if CJ is reading this thread, CJ how many NC's has South Carolina won in football? Hey! Come to Bama to be a Champion. That could be the greatest feeling you'll ever get unless you are on an NFL Super Bowl winning team in the future.

Have to hand it to JC, he evidently cares more about being able to go home every week and eat sunday dinner with Mom and see Dad than winning championships. In a way, you HAVE to respect that....

this post has probably already ben addressed, btu I HAD to...

What makes you think he has an overinflated ego? Ive heard him speak several times, and it appears he is very well grounded and articulate for a 17 year old boy.
Contrary to your thoughts, he would be GREAT for the university, and I for one, would love to see him. we have signed a great class, but adding him would make this class as good as 2008, at least on paper...it might already be there.

For all posters who seem to bring up championships....if you grew up in another state, you woukld feel more associated with that progran as well...and, being close to his mother, playing for the home team has a great appeal...and a LOT of people have great memories of college...and they didnt all go to the university of Alabama...please, just take off the goggles to rest your eyes.

Having said that, I would LOVE to steal him from USCe, but thats what it'll be, theft if he signs with us... :)

Sterling Sharpe and Dan Reeves probably the most famous ones not named Rogers.

Appreciate the last string of posts setting the very few posters not applying logic here straight. If being true to his family was an acceptable reason for Cyrus to shun auburn and sign with Bama, then it should be an acceptable reason for Clowney to want to stay close to home... there's just nothing wrong with that line of thinking. Appreciate the honest evaluations (from most posters).
Respectfully ... Whatever he chooses is acceptable to me and he doesn't need to provide a reason. I fail to see how any of that translates into your logic being flawless while opposing theories are something other than logical and less than honest ... with a side order of mildly delusional.

It stands to reason that USCe has the lean on this but I fail to see how logic could disregard the potential lure of:

1) Playing for a team with 13 National championships and the opportunity to be a part of a couple more. That, my friend, is the stuff of history and legends. South Carolina winning the National Championship would be a one-pop-poot in a hurricane. (Yes, I will wear a chicken hat on game day if they go through us to get there.)

2) The attention that follows Alabama and her outstanding players. Everyone has an opinion about Bama one way or another.

3) We travel ... big time. I can't recall Duke selling out their season ticket packages over a USCe home game.

3) Being surrounded by a team of personnel that will perform at or near his level and the increased freedom to make big plays because other teams cannot afford to dedicate half the O-Line and a tailback to blocking him.

4) Subsequently taking fewer solid hits and punishment, improving his odds of healthy arrival at the next level. A man should at least consider the long road.

5) A coaching staff that has actually won championships in Jadeveon's cognizant lifetime might be considered a plus. While we relics know what Coach Spurrier was once capable of, Urban Meyer repainted that bicycle. Steve might as well be Vince Dooly to an 18 year old.

6) But, the clincher, an elephant for a mascot rather than a dadgum chicken. :biggrin2:

All that said, I agree ... the Mama card is still trump.

Yep; family plays a BIG role in where these kids go. I think we are set at DE with the guys we have who are all very good players, albeit one is injured. JC would be a huge pickup for Bama but it is very tough to get kids out of that state. I'd prefer he go to Clemson than SC, but we wouldn't have to worry about him until his Jr. year (I think that's when we pick SC back up).

SIAP, but I couldn't read through 15 pages to catch up. If Clowney does go to Clemson or USCe (which is fine and his choice), then we have a HUGE silver lining in all of this. The one player that was able to stand up to Clowney's pass rush this year was Cyrus. Color me not too concerned from a competition stand point.

Also, enough w/ the "he doesn't want to win a championship" and "this doesn't make any sense". Sure it does... he wants to be close to home and play for the in-state school... Just like Julio and multiple others wanted. Remember that Julio joined up when we weren't in the NC hunt every year. JMO.

Forget the Julio comparison. We had CNS recruiting him.

Look at a guy like Andre Smith. He had his chance to go across country and play for a BCSNC with USC but chose to stay in state with Mike Shula.

I lived in SC for 12 years...they love their football just as much as Bama folks. If he goes to USC or Clemson and is as good as advertised...he will become a small god and will be set for life. I understand it completely and the Momma connection is tougher than we could imagine. Ellis Johnson is no slouch as a DC and he is a really good recruiter as well. We will be fine...and we will put a whipping on them of Biblical proportions if they make it to the SEC Championship game.

Good post. Using the logic of some, Smith was an idiot to sign with Bama... of course we all know that's ridiculous as Smith wanted to stay close to home, wanted to play for Bama, and was nfl bound no matter where he played his college ball. Excellent analogy.

All the recruitng services still list him as a prospect to Bama! Rivals Scout, ESPN and Bamamag still lists him as high! If they are no longer a prospect Bamamag usuall removes them! I think SC will be hard to beat but we still have a chance! With or without him we had one of the best classes ever, but he would only add to it! I think he will be special anywhere he goes but has a better chance of winning championships and going higher in the draft if he choses BAMA! Roll with the tide and give me a birthday present on the 14th and we will celebrate together! RTR RTR

IMHO, this was an excellent post and a well thought out argument if I ever heard one on any recruit period!!

Kudos brother. you remind me and hopefully some of us the PRIDE we have in our beloved Crimson Tide!!

I have been looking trying to find a page that shows that Clowney is no longer considering Bama and haven't found one. I went back several pages in this thread to find the link to the page that leads people to think we are out of it and couldn't see one. Does anyone have a link?
