Asked to SIT DOWN!!!!

He sits in the north end zone on the west side of the hash mark.
He tried his best to get it going during the Hawaii game. He was running up and down the walkway.

Yep, I seriously considered throwing my $3.50 souvenir cup at him, but thought better of it in the end.....I would have wasted a valuable cup! I was OK w/ it until he was doing it during a critical drive & people were ACTUALLY going along with it as UH was moving the ball.......RIDICULOUS!

Why is common courtesy and compromise such hard concepts to comprehend? I think this might the most childish thread I've witnessed here.

so you're saying it would be a common courtesy for me to sit down? is that where you stand on the issue?

childish? and yet you made it to page 4...

sorry you feel that way, just upset me when they told me to sit down. my sister and i went to several braves game over the summer and she kept saying, she can't wait till football season so she can stand up & scream (they look at her funny when she does it at baseball games). and then football season finally hear, and she gets the sit down? just not right!

haha

so we got one vote on I should sit if the person behind me doesn't want me to stand up...what if i hurt his ears while i scream ???

i know what you mean...last year i was ASKED TO SIT DOWN AT THE FLORIDA GAME...i was like if you wanted to sit down the whole time you should of stayed at home and watched it...it was ridiculous..why dont those people sell their tickets to true fans who want to stand up and cheer on the tide

I've tried this. At LSU in 02, we were on the next-to-last row on the end in the west upper deck (can you say vertigo?) These LSU women were behind us (not like they couldn't see...I mean their knees were practically at our shoulders in that place...but whatev) and one of them put her hand on my shoulder and said "you can either sit down, or swap with us." Naturally, I said "Okay, we'll swap...no big deal." Her reply? "Well. I didn't really want to do that."

doh-kaaaay....

thats funny. i guess they regret that.

there is nothing like having a drink spilled on your back by a fan standing up and screaming and then when something is said its like your the problem for saying something about it. have a look at narcisistic personality disorder. she may have it. SIT DOWN you can support your team with just as much enthusiasm sitting down as you can standing up. and no one here is saying you didnt teach your kid right. so why is she saying she did? and why take this to a message board?

:conf3: Maybe?

I have no problem with people standing when something is happening.
I myself stand when I want to and I sit when I want to.
Most people are going to jump up when something happens, and just about all will stand and cheer when your on the goal line or its 3rd or 4th and short.
A lot of people are going to stand up and sit down many times during a ball game.
So if you are asked to sit down when something is going on you know like a 3rd and 2or a deep pass, then the people need to give you a break.
If you have been standing the entire game during lulls and highs, then yeah you might want to relocate to the student section.
One last thing I can’t stand the wave and I refuse to do It.!!!!
To start the wave when you can still lose the ball game is plain stupid and shows that you are not into the game it’s self but just enjoying the atmosphere.
The vandy game is a good example.
Im there for the game, win Bama win!!!!

... I was being freakin hit in the head with a shaker the entire game, but not once did I ask the person behind me to stop.... You are at a football game.... it's all a part of the fun, love, and excitement.

Now, I don't like being forced to stand during the entire game (didn't like it when I was a student, either); however, I have more patience with those who stand in front of me than those that yell "down in front!" Bottom line, I will do what I have to do in order to see the game. If I'm standing and you're behind me, you should do what it takes for you to see--not make me do what it takes for you to see.

Now, regarding the shaker in the head thing. Nothing annoys me more. I've been shaking a shaker at most games for over 20 years and I don't think I've ever hit someone in the head. Been hit in the face from in front and the head from behind more times than I can count. People should be able to figure out that there is a right way and a wrong way to shake a shaker. The right way is up and slightly forward, where it clears the head of those in front of you and stays well in front of the folks behind you. Shouldn't take an advanced degree to figure it out. If I get hit in the head or face more than once or twice, I'll grab the streamers and hang on until they get the message.

My wife was asked to sit at a game last year. (Note the woman asked her, not me and the buddy of mine who is rather large.) This woman sat the entire ballgame with hands in her lap. She hardly even acknowledged the fight song or even scoring on our part. The next week the usual seat holders returned and we asked about the folks from the week before. They said that they'd been afraid she act that way. They've never sold those folks their ticket again.

in all my many games i have never spilled a drink on anybody......an i have to disagree, you can't support your team with as much enthusiasm sitting down, just can't......ESPECIALLY when our defense is on the field waving their arms because they want you UP....if Simeon or Bino wants me UP, i am UP!!!!!! they don't just mean get louder they want you on your feet screaming! that is showing way more enthusiasm than just sitting there yelling!

and crimson mo, yes i do want to relocate to the student section. it's obvious that is where we belong.

If you don't like people standing at the game then you need to watch the game in your La-Z-Boy at home. That's how I feel.

It's called a SEAT for a reason. SIT unless it's 4th and 1 or a 70 yd TD run. When one person gets up for every freakin' thing, everyone behind him/her has to get up too.

Oh, and sit on the dang shaker while you're at it.

That's how I feel.
