Sorry but this is ridiculous.

Limp or no limp, you don't ASSUME the guy is gonna sub out. And if you do assume that, then you're at fault for whatever happens on the play. It is the defense's job to account for 11 guys on the field.

What's next? We penalize a team when a player acts like he's the ball carrier but isn't? Deception plays have ALWAYS existed in football and the barn is simply mad because it was them who got burned this time.

It ain't much fun when the rabbit's got the gun.
The ridiculous part is trying it in the first place…and then getting away with it.

The one thing I do find to be poetic justice is that the other wide receiver engaged the Auburn DBs in smack talk so they did not notice the "subbing" player did not actually sub out.

I still think the whole play is bush league which speaks poorly of the program. It about as ethical as using fishing line to trip an opposing DB during a game.

The barn got jobbed on the missed calls against OU, especially the deceptive non-substitution that led to a TD. If it had been us getting jobbed, we'd be raising Cain too.

Still, Malzahn and Freeze based their whole offensive approach on making it hard for refs to enforce rules on substitutions, OL downfield, and control of the clock. And they won at least two games against us as a direct result.

So the irony is sweet enough to rot teeth.

Did the fishing line incident actually happen? Clever if so... what pound test do you need to bring down a cornerback vs. a safety? And I mean a good ole run stuffer like Barron!

Fishing line trick has not been used to my knowledge, but if it was tried, it would be bush league like hiding a subbing player on the sidelines. especially since that was the margin of victory.
