It seems like it was a legit call, but I don’t even care if it wasn’t. It’s not like condemning the refs is going to make them suck less.

I’m just enjoying the barn getting their comeuppance, even though this isn’t really a good example of the kind of calls they’ve gotten that really turned the outcome of games. The kick six might never have happened if they had been flagged for ineligible receivers downfield on the tying TD.

On other occasions they got bad calls in their favor that didn’t affect the outcome but were just inexplicable. Does anyone remember the game against Mississippi State (2011 I think) when they were given a first down when they were half a chain length short? The explanation was that the last link is part of the stick.

We’d have had a 3 peat that year if we won that game. No doubt in my mind.

The thing I find the funniest about the "timeout" call - and let's be clear, Kirby should be suspended for a game for that nonsense - is that Auburn is whining about it and yet they're the team that has repeatedly had guys suddenly fall to the ground "hurt" to allow them to get what is, in essence, a timeout.

That SEC letter about how they'd wronged Auburn was probably the worst thing they could have done. It is going to become their version of a Supreme Court precedent, where they'll pretend EVERY bad call is exactly the same.

I remember their game with LSU in 2010, where they needed an onside kick at the end of the game. The ball traveled 9.5 yards and was recovered by the kicker and awbern went on to win. (The kicker was the first player to touch it.) Replay SHOULD have given the ball to LSU, but the conference was obviously "all-in" at that point...

Let's all be honest - brutally so, if necessary:

Auburn's program has been a train wreck since just before the end of the Pat Dye Regime. And Dye was the only stability they've had in the damn near half century since Shug Jordan left.

Look at what they've done:
- hired Terry Bowden, with zero relevant experience, to replace Dye
- basically let Bowden know he was done just six games after he won their first division title
- hired a guy (Tubs) who couldn't beat Alabama
- kept him around solely because he was able to beat a severely crippled Alabama for several years
- even then tried to replace him while he was still coach (secretly via Jetgate)
- fired him (or he quit) and hired a 5-19 coach from Iowa St
- fired that guy two years after a controversial national championship
- hired the OC from the 2010 team, who opened with a splash
- overpaid him out of a crippling fear he'd whip them at (checks notes) Arkansas
- hired Mr. Potato Head and shot him out of a cannon
- hired a sex addict cheater ONLY because he had a record of success against Alabama

Seriously - their entire program is a reaction to ours. They either hire a guy who has beaten us or they overpay to keep someone they fear will humiliate them. And let's face it, Gus only had leverage because of three improbable wins in 2010, 2013, and 2017. That one win over us (2019) cost them $49 million.

Don’t forget, they’re paying their QB from Oklahoma just because he beat Bama last year. Freeze can’t develop a quarterback. He doesn’t know how.

I hate to quibble, but "Burner Phone Freeze". Wasn't that the problem? He should've used a burner, instead he stupidly used a university phone to confirm his "massages".

You have to wonder why so many teams are still paying players that outright suck. NIL deals should be 100% performance based.

While I think Kirby and the refs need at least a two to three game suspension and hefty fines I cannot feel in any way any sympathy for AU.
With all the shenanigans they have gotten away with over the years with linemen downfield, and all the dang no call PIs where they mug the other team's receivers and nothing.
I just don't care.

Georgia would have started at the 25 instead of the 1. They could have very reasonably made it 17-3 or 17-7 at the half. Neither is insurmountable.

I think the reason it seemed so weird outside all the reviews was that in the sec the home teams usually get ALL the calls to the point it feels like a setup and last night was the first time in awhile the home team got the short stick. The fumble was a fumble but the rest was pretty one sided

I’ve done a fair number of games at places other than BDS. What AU excels at is selective jumbotronning: only showing replays in such a way as to rile up their fans in-stadium. Is there a view that makes it look like AU got jobbed? It’ll be repeated as many times as possible before the next snap. How can you be certain the call against AU was correct? They don’t show it on Jumbotron.

Aside from the mental side of being down 17-0 at half, that kind of score impacts play calling later in the game. If you are down 3 scores you start slinging it more, taking more risks, etc. that could lead to turnovers or quick 3 and outs that keep your defense on the field, etc etc. I believe Stallings said that every football game basically comes down to just a handful of key plays. But those plays are set up by everything else going on in the game and you don’t know when they are going to come.

I saw the line right now is -1.5 for Mizzou at AU this weekend. I expect Mizzou to beat them badly. The only explanation is that it’s in JH. They don’t realize the advantages they have at home traditionally one of which is favorable officiating.

It is what a buddy of mine insists will happen eventually. The market will regulate. And in theory it should. However, that theory is based in rational minds making rational decisions.

What you have right now is anything but that. College athletics now is now more than ever the “sandbox” for the booster that has more money than rational thought.

Bottom line is it was called a fumble on the field and the replay angles didn't offer conclusive proof it should be changed.

I found it ironic that one Auburn fan I know who posted a pic of the moment he believes the ball in crossing the goal line but half of the Georgia's defensive player's hand is buried into the football.

To me, this is why they didn't overtune it. The ball was moving already.
