Not even his first successful season? Just wondering because Saban has won it in the SEC...None. But he's in a situation similar to CNS where they'll actively avoid giving it to him if they can because he's expected to dominate.

Looks like a Hooters kinda girl. She doesn't strike me as a Waffle House type gal.
Don't really care. He won 6 division titles and 3 outright titles. They can give it to whoever they want because that award is arbitrary. Wins and losses are not.Not even his first successful season? Just wondering because Saban has won it in the SEC...![]()
AUDub, what's the consensus among Auburn fans?Don't really care. He won 6 division titles and 3 outright titles. They can give it to whoever they want because that award is arbitrary. Wins and losses are not.
Pretty optimistic all things considered. 50% are morons that think we just hired the Saban killer. 25% (me included) are cautiously optimistic, 25% are being extremely negative.AUDub, what's the consensus among Auburn fans?
And that 50% will want him fired when he loses.Pretty optimistic all things considered. 50% are morons that think we just hired the Saban killer. 25% (me included) are cautiously optimistic, 25% are being extremely negative.
And the true reality is as good as that looks on paper it probably ranks you #3 in the SECW and probably #4 or #5 in the SEC overall. He's going to find out real quick what SEC recruiting is all about. Gus who has been around the SEC and Southeast for about 15 years or so struggled with the likes of Bama, UGA, LSU, Florida, and even the Miss schools when it came to recruiting and fighting for the blue chippers. Auburn finished the 2021 class at #41, Gus last season.
As you can see below, Gus recruited quite well and aside from 2 years was always in the Top 10, but as we know numbers don't always tell the story. Development, evaluation, and coaching are key to sustaining a quality program. He avg. 4 losses per season even with these stellar classes. And once again Gus never had B2B 10 win seasons at Auburn. Harsin has his work cut out for him.

That would hover around a top 10 class. That can compete. Comes down to how good of a talent evaluator he is and how good he is at developing that talent. And the true reality is as good as that looks on paper it probably ranks you #3 in the SECW and probably #4 or #5 in the SEC overall.
I hope we're as patient with him as he deserves. He's our guy now and I'm 100% behind him.And that 50% will want him fired when he loses.
We all know most fan bases are not that rational. The schedule looks manageable. Although I don't know what to think about @ Penn State. Maybe one of our B1G guys can tell you what they have. You draw south Carolina from the east and they will be breaking in a new guy too. Plus you get us and UGA at home.I hope we're as patient with him as he deserves. He's our guy now and I'm 100% behind him.
So basically no one ever turned them down and they got who they wanted all along. Here’s the Auburn spin by the state media on the hiring process.
Inside the Hiring of Brian Harsin
Doesn’t paint Steele in the best light. Also spins Bill Clark turning down the job. Basically, Harsin was cheap & wanted the job.

Remember when I said "sound, fury and stupid?" Yeah. Be careful what you believe. So basically no one ever turned them down and they got who they wanted all along.
I can understand it. The football program sort of outgrew the university there. No shock he'd be frustrated at the intransigence on looking to move on.Hairsin has spent the last few months pushing to get Boise in the AAC. So he hasn’t been planning on moving too long.
The world according to Garp/AU...nothing ever matches reality.Remember when I said "sound, fury and stupid?" Yeah. Be careful what you believe.
Yep, if he can consistently stay in the top 10-15 in recruiting AND is good at plucking those diamonds in the rough and developing them into four and five star players. Y'all will definitely compete. The potential problem is not being able to recruit at minimal level and having to depend too much on player development. That would hover around a top 10 class. That can compete. Comes down to how good of a talent evaluator he is and how good he is at developing that talent.
And Gus' classes had major holes, particularly when it came to linemen.
