If a barn coach's wife is thinking (and saying publicly) that Bama is paying players, you have to think that that crap comes down from Tubs and that at least some of the barn coaches are spreading that around while recruiting , also.

Slander it is but coach Saban won't even bother with her. He has much bigger fish to fry. She and her hubby coach will end of somewhere like West North Dakota State (if there is such a place) and be happy that he got a job.

The smart play by Saban is to let it go. If asked, say something about understanding her emotional response and let it pass. If he makes a single comment about players not being paid, the press will run with it....
Bringing in the barristers is certainly tempting; but I think NYBamaFan has it right. Let it go.

"I don't know, but it is truly a good indication of how bad the economy really is. We have gone from giving away Escalades according to Clemson DC Vic Koenning for top recruits to giving only "handshakes with a coupla' hundurd dollers" according Mrs. Ensminger. These are rough times, I tell you!!!
"

This one made me laugh out loud!

I haven't yet figured out how to make multiple quote boxes appear in a posting...

She is right about one thing. Auburn's athletic department handled this the wrong way. If nothing else, whoever they want as their next coach will definitely weigh this before making a decision.

However, trends over the years show that Auburn is willing to keep former coaches on the payroll. Can Auburn afford a new coach as well as the hush money it will take for all the formor ones?

They have a point as to the way it was handled. Its just plain funny the fact that it was barn.

Reminds me of the Missouri Basketball problems a few years back with Head Coach Quinn Snyder and Ricky Clemons. Short version, there were some recruiting issues that came to light after Clemons was there and had been arrested. Later some coaches wives and/or a university chancellor wife were taped making off color remarks when they called Clemons in jail. Those tapes were later released.

I'm sorry they got fired, but venting like that in the heat of the moment will get you in trouble every time. I would think that IF Saban or someone from the university does decide to follow up on this, we won't see it happen until after the season as to not cause any undo distraction.

If I were their husbands I would want to crawl in a hole. It's like being a little kid and your mom wanting to fight your battles for you when all you want her to do it leave it alone.

Doubt Saban or the University would get anywhere with the slander thing. Saban is a public figure so it is pretty much fair game to say whatever you want about him in public... whether it is true or not.

What she'll regret is coming on a talk show and saying this because she is going to receive a lot of scrutiny... i bet Finebaum has a field day with it this afternoon.

Trademark. You don't have to "sue or lose" for copyright to apply.

This is absolutely untrue. When statements are made and intended to be damaging, you've opened yourself up to a strong lawsuit against you.

I can't believe that some of y'all want to just let her slide. Her comment was extremely slanderous to both Coach Saban and The University. I guess y'all have already forgotten about the recent hell our program had to go through due to a lot of lies told about us. I know the program had some blame to bear, but our punishment was magnified because of the words of some less than honorable people.

I hope Coach Saban and The University sue her @#* off or at the least make her retract her statement on the radio and in a full page retraction in the state's newspapers.

To hell with this turning the other cheek crap. :mad2:
