Trying to find it again but I ran across a report saying AU considering leaving the SEC and going to the ACC,
Anyone else heard about this?
That's a Twitter rumor is all at this point. That and a brain-dead Auburn blogger at Fly War Eagle, if you pardon the redundancy.

Auburn would lose so much cashflow coming in - if they left - it would be ridiculous.

OK. Makes sense.
I was thinking it looked/sounded awful fishy.
Yeah, I came across it twice on Twitter today while keeping up with the trial and then looked elsewhere and saw a blogger saying it would be smart because they'd immediately be national champion contenders every year.

They probably would in that conference - but you have to make the bank to get there in the first place and remember: not only do Clemson and FSU want to leave but they are about to have to split revenue with three more schools they just added.

It's hard to imagine a school leaving the Big 10 or the SEC, but the system is currently a bit rigged to favor record over resume.

For instance, of the current (it will change of course) top 12 teams in the playoff rankings, 11 of them are going to be in either the SEC or the Big 10 in the coming years! Of course voters are dumb and they'll still vote according to record, but it shows how brutal the new Big 10 and SEC will be.

So, I can imagine that it's possible some of the teams on the outside looking in (notably FSU, Notre Dame and Clemson) try to get an unequal revenue deal from the Big 12 or the ACC so they don't have to get absolutely demolished every year and still get paid a competitive amount.

Fixed it for you.

Don’t see how the numbers would work for anyone in that scenario. Acc already has 18 members and a payout so low half the league was ready to bolt. Absolutely no way auburn is gonna take a 1/3 of the money they get now

I can't imagine that ever happening for one important reason. We all know Barny Google measures a successful season on whether they beat Alabama. Take that away and they have no reason to enjoy their toilet paper fetish.

Didn’t this blogger get confused and said “ACC” instead of what he meant….the “AAC”?
The Barn could dominate and replace rivals Alabama and LSU with UAB and Tulane.

It will never happen. No school is going to voluntarily leave the SEC and give up the millions they get each year for being a member of the SEC for a lesser conference. If they could go back in time and have a do-over, do you think FSU would join the SEC when they were given the chance? In a heartbeat they would.

Zero percent chance of this happening and for the same reason Vandy doesn't bolt to a conference they could actually be competitive in: money. There's just too much of it pouring into the coffers.
