Auburn vs Southern Mississippi game

Did anyone watch any of the Auburn vs S. Mississippi game?
(2 Hour rain delay was one of the better parts of that game)

IMO: Auburn Offense struggled, then finally won. 24-13.
Auburn passing/Receiving was poor. Running too.
Was Southern Miss. better than I thought, or was Auburn worse than I thought? Auburn looked pretty bad to me.

I think they need to play that way every game, especially when they come to T'town.

I still think somehow, though, they will improve a lot as the season progresses. Gus will change something.

I would hate having a rain delay that long.

Delay started with about 4:30 left in second qtr. Can you imagine sitting 2 hours...coming back to play 4min...then another 20min break!?

He’s broken psychically right now. Ends up fleeing for his life to his left on most passing downs because the right side of the line is getting blown up, and has happy feet on the few occasions when it does not and stops looking downfield. Hasn’t been hitting the deep ball. Takes off not looking to gain yardage etc.

But his play is a symptom, not the cause.

Calvin Ashley was a bright spot and he needs to be at RT or RG. Was blowing his assignment off the ball when he came in. Other than that, not many fixes available. This line is just bad.

This is typical Gus though. Great season followed by 1-2 years of poor decisions. Fans will cry for him to be fired, then he’ll pull off a 10+ win season, fans will claim he’s a offensive genius, AU will give him a raise and contract extension. The cycle just keeps repeating.


Honestly, maybe he is a genius with all the money he keeps getting from AU. He’s taking them for all they’re worth and they don’t even notice.

Dub, I don't pay too much attention to non-Bama recruiting, but I though AU had their share of good OL recruits. What's the problem with the OL? Injuries? Some recruits not pan out?

Combo. Presumptive starter at center just now getting back to full health, and the guy that that started the season, though a 4*, is not a division 1 quality center. Got trucked routinely. Hopefully Brahm rectifies that.

Left side of the line is serviceable. RG and RT getting thrashed. Need the plug Ashley in there at RT with Horton at RG. Think that gives us the best chance to improve.

I am located between B'ham and Monkey Town. Weather was clear, so I couldn't understand what the delay was about. I didn't bother to check the weather radar.

Would have stunk to so that long waiting to resume the game.

My guess is the stadium was a lot emptier when the game resumed...

Stidham has little confidence in that offensive line and probably even less in the play calling. Can’t say that I blame him.

Any word on the injuries to Whitlow and the guys on the O-line?
