Auburn's hires....

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

It is clear that Auburn has simply opened the check book to fix their staggering baseball and softball programs- I will go as far to say that they probably have the highest paid softball coach in the country now with the hiring of the Arizona St. coach. And I will bet that they are now in the top 3 of highest salaries in the conference with their new hiring of the Oklahoma baseball coach. It is the ONLY thing that makes any sense- why else would these 2 successful coaches leave where they were to come to Auburn? Jay Jacobs decided to spend some of the Yellowood's and Bobby Lowder's money.

Maybe this will make the powers that be in Tuscaloosa stand up and spend some money on the baseball program. If all they care about is beating Auburn- that task may have gotten considerably harder. Us baseball fans can certainly hope. Roll Tide.

When you are hiring to save your job as Jacobs is, you make the big splash hires and you give them as much money as possible. I don't think the baseball hire was the right hire but this is Auburn.

It seems to me womens basketball is more important at Alabama right now than baseball.
Of course we still don't know exactly how much Kristy Curry will make. Of all the sports
programs womens basketball was ranked last in a story at AL.com, baseball was no. 8.
I agree that basketball needed a better coach but...If she makes 750k like she was going
to make at TT, that is ridiculous. Could have gotten the coach at Shelton for half that. JMO

Told ya so. Think about that for a second. 2nd highest paid coach in the conference. Has the softball coach's salary been made public yet? I'm telling you I will bet he is paid as much as any coach in the country. Jacobs is desperately trying to save his back-side. I am actually very surprised at these 2 hires. I do know the ASU coach had a son living in B'ham he will now coach with. Again, those of us who care about Bama baseball need to find a way to let Bill Battle and the Board of Trustees know. Same old excuses are not acceptable.
Auburn is going to pay Galloway $650,000 a year. Second most by a public SEC school.

The softball coach is making $180 a year for 5 years. Look back at my first post.
