Auburns Schedule 2005...another bomb.

Right. Usually schedule someone like Oklahoma. What, you schedule them and they don't accept? I know you've lost to them twice in the last couple years, does that count as usually.

I believe you USUALLY play directional schools OOC such as Western Carolina, Middle Tennessee, etc.

Auburn has lost twice to USC in the last few years....I guess that counts as "usually" too. Bama might have lost to Oklahoma but they didnt get shut out.
2002 USC 24 Auburn 17 (LA)
2003 USC 23 Auburn 0 (Aub)

Another point--Bama is not a SCRUB!!!!!!!

Hey Jaydub, your not too smart are you? Lets see we played UCLA two years in a row 5 years ago, then played Oklahoma 2 years ina row, we were suppossed to play Penn State 2 years in a row starting this past season which was postponed by both schools, and I can tell you that most Bama fans were very upset about not playing Penn State, and then we were supppossed to play Notre Dame two years in a row but both schools did not have open dates at the same time and that series was also postponed, both series however ARE being rescheduled. I would much rather schedule quality out of conference opponents and lose then schedule a bunch of patsy nobodies just to get a QUALITY (cough, cough) win.

Word from Jacksonville State

is that Jack Crowe has contact Auburn to see if they are interested in playing the gamecocks on Sept 24.
JSU already has a conference game with Eastern Kentucky but they want to see if Auburn is interested before contacting Eastern KY or the OVC about seeing if the game can be moved.

Little-known fact, the barn was scheduled to play Georgia Tech in '04 until Tech bailed out at the last minute and left them scrambling to pick up The Citadel as a replacement. Now they have So. Miss. bailing out on them in '05, and they'll end up with another punk team in their place. Of course, the stooges at the barn aren't going to get any sympathy from me over this, but in the real world this does point out the problem with focusing so much on strength of schedule. This very same kind of thing could happen to us too.

A lot of the time, schools really do make the effort to have tougher opponents and they get left twisting in the wind when those opponents bail out at the last minute. Ain't no barner gonna get any love from us on this board, but when this kind of thing happens year after year it really does point out the flaw with fixating on strength of schedule.

Bottom line: strength of schedule won't mean squat when the NCAA finally does its job and gives everyone a legit playoff system. THAT'S the only solution.

I may be wrong, but I thought AU was suppose to play Bowling Green in '04, not Ga Tech.

They were supposed to play Bowling Green AND Georgia Tech. Ga. Tech moved the game to 2005 and Bowling Green just bailed completely.
