Someone (on another board, sorry,

) was saying that on A-Day at the autograph session they were in line for like an hour and a half to get Coach Shula's autograph. I was just wondering if anyone on this board who was there could tell what it was like trying to get autographs and was it possible to get more than on or two. We were thinking on trying to go next year, as we have a very special picture that we want to get an autograph on from one player in particular, but we have to come from Illiois and it's hard for me to get time off in the school year. It's just a big production, so can y'all tell me what's it's like? The football office has already told us that we cannot send the picture in for the player to sign, we have to see the player ourselves and ask him.

The autograph session at A-Day is a mad house! It isn't worth the time. I have been to 2 of them (including this year) and I will not go back until they revamp how it's done. There is no line to stand in. It's just hoards of people crowding around tables trying to get autographs. There needs to be more order and people need to be in a single line. This will make things go better and quicker.

It is a small risk, but I have mailed things to the Athletic Dept. to get autographed and they have been autographed for me. Make sure you send it to that particular person's attention.

When you say that, do you mean a player or coach? They told us that the coaches could sign a picture we'd send in, but that it was against regulations for them to have players sign things that people send in.

IT- it is well worth the hassle to get the autographs!!
Like everyone says it is crowded, it is a mad-house and there are a lot of rude people that try and cut the lines but still I think it is worth it to meet the players because they are all nice and accommodating as far as pictures and autographs go.
Be aware that you can't get Coach Shula's autograph and have a lot of time to still do the players.
I think it is best to make a decision ahead of time and that is to either do Shula or do the players!!!
You must get there early no matter what you do!! This past Saturday I was standing at the door of the coliseum at 6:40 in the morning but of course I was about the 5th person to get Shula's autograph!!

To me it is totally worth the hassle. It is not for the impatient or closeterphobic(sp)people.I've been every year since 94 and I think more fans show up every year.I tell everyone I take, that it will be very chaotic once the colliseum doors open.I went this year and got about 20 autographs,I missed about 3 of the seniors, but maybe I can catch them at a game this year. You will definately get some autographs if you attend.P.S.Illinois thanks for all the BASEBALL updates.RTR

I think the autographs are fun but I also think that it should be moved to a more open location. In a more open location such as the practice fields or the indoor practice facility it could be much more organized. I think that they also need to extend the time. 2 hours just isnt enough time. I got there at 8:30 and tried nothing except to get Coach Shula's autograph and at 10:30 they cut the line off. I never even made it into the main arena.

This year was my first autograph session. A few pointers. Skip the hot commodities and move down the line and you should get a few. My son and I skipped the Coach and Brodie line and headed a little further down. We started in the 20's and made it through the 90's. He had a white panel football and ended up with 40-50 signatures minus the Brodie and CMS. After the game was over, we waited around and got both of these along with the "Snake". It was well worth it.

Bear always had a poem with him. This was one...

This is the beginning of a new day.
God has given me this day to use as I will.
I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is very important because I am Exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever.
Leaving something in its place I have traded for it.
I want it to be a gain, not loss - good, not evil.
Success, not failure in order that I shall not forget the price I paid for it.
