Right now he has the presumption of innocence........ and it’s all coming out of the woodwork, so he will have a chance to defend himself, unlike the Duke lacrosse guys. So if it is true( and it could or could not be true) then appropriate measures should be taken
But it’s more than 1 guy...

If that is truly what you meant then I apologize for my response.

Athletes are treated differently their entire lives. That leads to a lot of problems down the road. Same as with all spoiled children. Our environment impacts our development. But at some point we are who we choose to be.
Thanks. I will chose my words more carefully next time.

I agree with B1G, if that is what you meant then I too apologize. Our societal norms have been fractured over the years and student athletes as well as professional athletes take advantage of their "star status" which in a lot of cases does a lot of good, but there will always be the element that believes themselves to be above reproach and the law. Their coaches and admin, in order to protect their positions and income, turn a blind eye to their behavior and if left unchecked will certainly cause greater harm to all involved.

Follow Up: Went on Tiger Droppings and Tiger Fan. They look to be split into three camps:

1. O didn’t know, and he suspended or kicked off the bad apples. What more do you want him to do? Hit piece by USA Today. Estimate 50% in this camp.

2. Old news. What happened lately? Might account for 35-40%.

3. This is horrible. O has to go, and it doesn’t look good for a bunch of others. 10-15%
Sounds about right.

He should be in jail as an accessory after the fact.

But I‘ll be surprised if he gets anything worse than a love tap on the wrist.
Yes, people in power positions who make a lot of money rarely get prosecuted to the full extent of the law. However, as others have said, these are merely allegations at this point. If they are proven true, I hope people are punished accordingly and that these young women are given the help they need. These types of actions scare me to death about sending my daughter to university next year.

Given the gravity of the allegations in the USA Today article, it’ll be interesting to see if LSU takes legal action.

As in, if the allegations are false and/or omit mitigating factors, why have you not taken legal action to force the full true story into the light?

If they stomp their feet, bluster, and posture a lot, but don’t actually do anything, that’ll speak volumes.

So, basically Baylor 2.0. People wanted Baylor burned to the ground, let's see if the reaction on national scale is similar for LSU.

IMO, Title IX is the problem, colleges use it to hide behind more then they use it to help. The entire LSU football staff should be fired, the entire LSU title IX staff should be fired, the AD and school president should be fired. Burn the place to the ground.

It's time for colleges to wake up and stop using Title IX to protect star rapists.

This is so sickening, I'm almost to the point where I will refuse to let my daughters go to a university away from home. In town schools and live under my roof or nothing. It is not worth throwing all this money at these schools when they refuse to protect your daughters because FOOTBALL!

This separates the two pretty clearly for me. Lane had/has issues, but when did he help his players get away with rape?
I don't know all of the details of the current LSU case, so I guess I should say that I have always thought of those two as being cut from the same cloth; however, if these current allegations are proven to be true, then clearly Ogre would sink much, much lower.

This is why I'm scared to death of my only daughter stepping on a college campus. I'd burn the damn earth to the ground with all of us in it if her case were treated like the ladies in this article. Sickening.
I was told by a smart woman once that as a father I must not make my daughter ALSO fear telling me about an issue that she has because I might jeopardize myself by doing something that harms my safety or put me in harms way (legally or physically). There has been many, many girls and women (probably boys too) who would not tell their father about an assault because they were afraid of what their father might do in response.

Sickening, disgusting, pathetic, deplorable, etc., etc. I hope they go down really, really hard. Those are two great men running LSU's football and basketball teams. And what about the girls involved? Forever scarred. As a dad I can tell you what my instinct would be for action against the guy that did it and the pieces of garbage like Orgeron that let it slide.

This is a lot different than Duke, so please stop pretending that this is he said, she said. Read the USA article. There is a ton of evidence.
And they can easily suspend with/without pay and investigate when you have a preponderance of evidence like the article states. One of the MAIN points of the article is how the administration drug its feet over and over again at every chance it had with its star players and with other non-athletes. They MUST set an example at some point or the school will pay a dear price for their alleged misdeeds.

If all this is true, i don't understand where are the cops, surely they can't be in on it too, or at least i wouldn't think. Forget title 9, Assault, rape, this is big time felony stuff.

I always had a bad feeling about Guice. Article info below:

LSU mishandled sexual misconduct complaints against students, including top athletes

My God! They were covering up everything except sex trafficking. I have never heard of a police report that the victim could get a copy of until after the statute of limitations expired. How are they able to get away with that?
