I dont even know what that means ... Bama was just going thr motions and not taking Texas seriously? They're a good team, and likely practiced months for Bama.

Maybe the staff realized that we are not a joyless murderball yet and the receiver are more well suited for separation and long passes which is why Milroe holding on to the QB jobIf we are to return to a power run game that controls the LOS it will take a better effort from the line, but Jalen is not the type of QB this will work with. He's not a GMac or AJ that can complete a 5-10 yard short pass to keep a drive going. Matter of fact, there were at last 3 or 4 passes he luckily completed last night that could have been INTs just the same. Every time he threw a short pass I held my breath!
How the Oline blocked we are not suited for any style of offense. They were getting pressure with three and four linemen. Right now, the most devastating fracture we have on offense is the Oline, not the QB. We can't even begin to run an offense consistently with the clown show the Oline put on last night.Maybe the staff realized that we are not a joyless murderball yet and the receiver are more well suited for separation and long passes which is why Milroe holding on to the QB job
And many games from the year before as well. The OL play last few years has been atrocious. With all due respect, good Sir, I disagree. That's exactly the kind of game BY excelled at.
For reference, see every game last year.
Half of the OL problem is the dumb scheme we are running on a lot of plays. I saw several times where the RT would team with the RG to block an interior DL on a pass play and leave an undersized TE to block the DE. It didn't go well to say the least. Just stupid stupid stupid scheme. Or the RT doesn't know his assignment. Either way it is coaching or lack thereof. How the Oline blocked we are not suited for any style of offense. Yes, I think Buchner needs a shot and the QB position needs to be wide open. But let's not kid ourselves, we cannot expect any sustained success from any quarterback with the Oline playing like last night. They ought to be ashamed of their performance.
Naw, lions share of the Oline problems came between tackles, the Murphy guy or whoever it was for Texas playing the interior DL got penetration just about every play. The right guard consistently got manhandled or beat off the snap. Utter crap performance by the OLHalf of the OL problem is the dumb scheme we are running on a lot of plays. I hope so. Somebody needs to be given a chance.Maybe Simpson gets his chance now.
He’s not even the next man up…let that sink in.Maybe Simpson gets his chance now.
The problem with this take is the QB vs OL is sort of a circular argument. A QB who can hit slants and intermediate throws behind the LBs prevent the DL from just crashing the line. The QB gets it out faster, the OL doesn't look so bad. But, if a OL doesn't give the QB time - the QB can't make throws. Chicken or the egg. I say it's both, and when it's both, like last night, it looks exponentially worse.Milroe was pressured all night. It wouldn't have mattered much who was behind center. The OL play was sporadic. Real bad at times. The receivers were struggling to get separation. Pointing at only Milroe is unfair. Many of the problems we saw are fixable. We have a cupcake next week. So we have 2 weeks to clean up. Texas played a good game. They're a good team, and likely practiced months for Bama.
That's who Milroe is, he's Nick Marshall. There was a thread last week about who he reminds you of, and it's Nick Marshall. The only difference is that Auburn ran an offense that played to his strengths, and we are not, and have no offensive identity currently. It certainly isn't pounding it on the ground with our runningbacks.I was thinking that Saba was going to put in another QB, but then he threw that TD so how could he pull him after that?
Milroe honestly reminds me of that awbern QB that got them to the NC game against FSU. Can't remember his name, but he would chuck the ball up and the receivers would just somehow get that ball no matter what...
Milroe 's ball placement (accuracy) and shot selection are frankly...not good.![]()
