Since it's slow and it looks like DJ may be coming back, I ponder a question to the board.

With the fear the thumb campaign going on, I was wondering if there could be a complete meltdown this year if we are to lose to the Barn in our own house? I mean 5 straight losses will be rough and I would hate to hear, fear the other hand.

I refuse to worry about, or engage in, smack talk.
If they win, I don't have to listen to it.
If we win, I don't have to say anything about it.

The more they run at the mouth, the sweeter it is when they fail.

To borrow a page from Rasheed Wallace: put it on the front page, back page, middle page, any page you ******* want; we're not going to lose to Auburn this season.

Many of you may not have to listen to it, BUT I do...I work in Birmingham which has more barn fans and grads than any other place I know of...and they let you have it when they win...my boss and co-worker are both huge barn fans and I catch pure hades from them...I've taken a beating the last 4 years and it is time to stop this...the barn game '06 is the most critical game on our schedule to me...the thought of even considering this as an acceptable lose is unimaginable to me...it will never be an acceptable lose to me - period...

Birmingham may have MORE Auburn fans and grads, However, I'm pretty sure the the ratio of 'Bama to barn grads and fans in Huntsville is far worse. It's especially bad in the Southeast area. Anyone out there know what I'm talking about?

I agree with you.

No one should let the beginning of the year fool you. We will be playing a lot of young players and there will be growing pains, but I firmly believe there will be a big difference in our team from the start of the season and the end of the season. The team will gel as the season goes along and by the end of the year I don't think anyone is going to want to play Alabama.

No need to fear the thumb. Bryant-Denny will be rocking and All-Barn is going down.

Agreed. My neighbor is a huge UF fan and was running his mouth non-stop before the game last year. A few minutes after the game I was outside with the kids and he was stunned I wasn't talking smack, but boy was he eating a double helping of humble pie.

Much sweeter when you simply give them a knowing look.

I will make no guarantees except for that I will be there screaming my head off while wearing my, "Hey Tuberville, I've got a finger for you!" t-shirt. I hope to God we win though...

Oh, can you imagine the Rammer Jammer that will be sung?:biggrin2: I get giddy just thinking about finally singing it to Auburn in Bryant-Denny. Christmas would be all wrapped up for me right then and there.;)
If you thought it was loud against Florida/Tennessee.....

I just don't think Auburn grads go any place else but Birmingham when they leave the "lovliest village". As far as the ratio of fans in Birmingham, I think it is pretty even. It just seems you'll see a lot a Auburn apparrel in one place and a lot of 'Bama in another. As far as other cities go, I don't know. I don't spend much time in Huntsville or Mobile, and never go to Montgomery. In Mobile, it seems that I see a mixed group of SEC fans. Just one of those cities no one has a hold on.

I'd say Mobile and Birmingham have close to 55%-60% Bama fans.

Mobile has a higher number of LSU and Ole Miss fans.

Montgomery probably has near 55% Auburn fans.

My feelings about this game is that Auburn has finally backed Bama into a corner and everybody knows that anything can happen when your backs against a wall. IMO, this game has far greater implications for Bama than at any other time since the Perkins era. There isn't a doubt in my mind that we will see a Bama team that will do whatever it takes to win this game if it means that this is the only game we win all season.

We all know the Aubies wouldn't have won 4 in a row if we hadn't been hit by the NZAA. Trust me it is only a matter of time before things return to the proper order.

Who has the best rivalry in the Southeastern Conference?
What is the greatest rivalry in the Southeastern Conference?

The reason this came to mind is that recently there has been a debate going on in regard to rivalries. What makes for a good rivalry? Can it truly be called a rivalry if one team dominates? And can a rivalry die if one team dominates?

The talk started because of the Alabama-Auburn rivalry. There is no doubt that the Alabama-Auburn game has always been one of those games that people around the country make it a habit to watch even if they are not especially fans of either team. It has always been like Texas-Texas A&M, Ohio State-Michigan or Southern Cal-Notre Dame. The game usually has something riding on it, whether it is national ranking or for the SEC championship. Very seldom do both teams come into the game with mediocre records; one or the other is virtually always in some kind of championship hunt and often both are involved.
