Who has the best rivalry in the Southeastern Conference?
By Ben Cook
Alabama fans rattle off past national championships as easily as they say the A, B, and Cs. They still like to believe that Alabama is the national power and Auburn is the little country school across the state, but that's just not the case any longer. All those past national titles means that Alabama has had a great past. There is no denying that. It's something to be proud of, but you can't live off that forever.

If Alabama wants to have a great present and a great future, it has to beat Auburn, its biggest rival. And lately the Tide hasn't been able to do that.

Maybe admitting Auburn is its biggest rival would be a good first step.
Ben Cook = "MASTER OF THE OBVIOUS"

...and who are all these UA fans that think UT is our biggest rival? To me they are just a bunch of "pansies" that can't take 4 losses in a row to AU and are truly in fear of a thumb which is ridiculous. I despise all things "orange", but our biggest rival is AU without question!

UA vs UT = AU vs UGA is how I see it with each team having "other" rivalries...

UA vs AU has no equal. PERIOD.

On a side note, I've lived in the Middle TN area since 1994 and there has always been a large BAMA following here. You see the tags, the hats, the shirts....hell, there's a bar called Wilhagen's that is literally a BAMA bar. Dude graduated from BAMA and his bar has nothing but BAMA stuff on the walls. In 1999 or so, when we played South Carolina and it wasn't even on PPV, he got a satellite feed and it was THE ONLY place in town to watch it.

That said, there isn't an "auburn" bar around. auburn crap was hard to find and see. Lately, they're out in full force since they've been doing well the past 5 years. It's time to put the barn gear back in the closet. I'm sick of seeing it. Everyone up here that knows me knows that even through the crappy years, my tag was BAMA and I had the same BAMA stickers on either side of my slider window. My new truck is as red as they get. But these Johnny-come-lately barners are starting to get under my skin. Time to put them back in their hole. Many of my friends are ut folk, and they have noticed it, too. The barner sitings used to be few and far between, and that's how we liked it......and that's how I want it again.

I must say it is quite pleasant living in middle Tennessee. The ratio of Alabama fans here has always been swell. Anyone go to the 04' Music City Bowl? Good heavens at all the crimson. We are definitely holdin' down the fort in Big Orange Country!

Birmingham may have MORE Auburn fans and grads, However, I'm pretty sure the the ratio of 'Bama to barn grads and fans in Huntsville is far worse. It's especially bad in the Southeast area. Anyone out there know what I'm talking about?

I agree. Ever been to Hazel Green? It's ridiculous - probably 75 % Auburn followers. I think rural Madison County as a whole tends to shift towards AU. Either that or UT.

For once there is a group of people who feel the
same way that I do.

I hate Auburn and always have and always will.

I work for a hospital in northeast alabama and one
of my co-workers is a very big Auburn fan and he is
48 years old and says that Alabama will never beat
Auburn again during his lifetime and I told him that
he was full of you know what and that he even smells
like it.

He has no idea what all I have in store for him when
Alabama beats Auburn and he will run for cover when
I get finished with him.

I am bringing my good luck charm to the Auburn game. Kathy my fiance. She was with me at Ole Miss and the Tennessee games last season. Prior to that, Bama had lost 4 in row that I had attended from 03 Ole Miss, Tennessee & 04 LSU n Auburn.
