Yeah, Croom this week in commenting on how many players were limited by injury, added ... "but it's Alabama week."

Funny that he is so transparent in his fixation on Bama.

Sad that someone once so admired by the Bama faithful is now held in such low esteem.

But I agree this will be a competetive game.

We definitely need a big win over MSU, and it'll take the team not coming in and just being there. Has anybody else noticed the presence of an extremely docile crowd lately?

Croom hasn't looked well in the spotlight in areas of coaching, as well as not getting the job at UA. I hate to think how that's hurt him, but I guess that's life.

Funny how everytime our name comes up to play an opposing team, for them all, it's "Alabama week".

I love it!!

Yes. Before The last three home games really. The crowd is DEAD. They are dead during the Elephant Stomp, Before Kick off, and during the game. It amazes me the crowd expects the team to come out and play fired up, but they want to sit on their butts staying quiet. Make some noise people!

Well I wonder why. Looking at this season, and who our losses and wins have been against, I don't see a lot of reason for excitement and jubilation. Yeah, we're playing for our 7th win of the season....against MSU. Whoopee.
You want some excitement? Start winning against the teams that count. Quit scheduling OOC teams that are on the very bottom of the D1A list and replace them with teams that have some significance.
Get away from the goal of "becoming bowl eligible" and step it up a notch or two. Set a new goal of "winning the SEC West". Quit playing with such mediocrity that we actually expect to lose to the same conference rivals that we previously expected to win against.
Since everyone else is spouting statistics, let me pose a question for them that will show my concerns in a new light.
When is the last time the Crimson Tide started the year unranked, was never ranked at any time during the entire year, and finished the season the same way? Just curious.

The schedule was made far in advance of the season. Next year our schedule will look better with FSU and UGA coming onto the schedule.

Perhaps this tells too much my age, but I remember when we used to dominate teams - our crowd was never up for them either (except the big games). It's the culture of the elite. The older fans like to watch the game and the ones in the middle (I'll crawl into that category) are the ones to politely sit down so that our drooling elders sitting two rows up can see the game. It's disgustingly civilized.

"Winfield, did we just score another touchdown mmm? Poor things. I feel bad for that team over there. They came in with such high hopes."

The younger crowd is our only hope and our curse.

Yep, sonny boy I remember the "good old days" as well.
BTW, I would sit below you in the stands, but because of my arthritis, gout, diabetes, polio, MD, heartburn and hives, I am unable to crawl up the stadium bleachers.

I think we could beat the likes of UGA or FSU with the team we have this year. We should have beat Fl, Ark and Tn, bama outplayed them all until the end and then became too predictable at the end.

I don't think we should blame our lack of noise on Saturdays to a weak schedule. We are there for the players, not the people upstairs. When you're at the game, make some noise for our team! The team feeds off of crowd participation. If the crowd is dead, then the team will probably play the same. Let's quit blaming the schedule for our laziness.
