Bama changing from Nike to Adidas?

The "A" being changed has nothing to do with Nike's influence. They had to change the A because another team was already using it. And are you people serious about the Nike Swoosh on the jerseys messing up the classic look? LOL, please tell me you're joking. It is an inch big, what difference does it make. Tradition is great and everything, but times change fellas.

And this is something I don't understand about the obsession with Russell. You've got the swoosh with Nike, or the big "R" with Russell.

I hate to sound greedy, but I simply support whichever shoe/apparel company that will provide the most money to our athletic department. With today's expenses and fierce competition, we need all we can get.

As far as Russell goes, their corporate site lists headquarters in both Atlanta and Alexander City. I guess whether they can be considered an "Alabama company" or not is up for debate, though obviously their roots in the state run deep.

I wouldn't care if the unis were made by Gymboree (a children's clothing line) as long as the University is squeezing them for every dime they can get. It's all about the Benjamins. Don't ever kid yourselves that it's anything else. It's incredibly expensive to run a Division I athletic department. Throw in Title IX to fund women's sports and it's REALLY expensive.

It's six of one, half a dozen of another to me who makes the unis as long as the University is getting the absolute most money possible.

I can't stand Nike, but Adidas does the same things that cause me to hate Nike. I agree with many other posters; I wish we still used Russell. I am sentimental I suppose, but I'm sure we will end up with whoever gives us the best deal. Either way, it won't affect my support of the Tide. I don't buy anything with the swoosh on it anyway, so obviously I am just killing time by replying to this topic. Roll Tide.
