I don't doubt that.If Burns is retiring, Saban will already know and have a plan. They're close so I don't imagine much subterfuge on that front.
Perhaps the verbiage is making me overthink it.That said, seems like those two will go out together.
Pannunzio is moving back to his off-field position (recruiting coordinator, I believe). And, I know Rolltide.com is not always 100% accurate (or timely), but the on field assistant count there is currently:
1. Burton Burns Associate HC/RBs
2. Brent Key OL
3. Mike Locksley co-OC
4. Joe Pannunzio TEs
5. Josh Gattis WRs
6. Karl Dunbar DL
7. Tosh Lupoi co-DC/OLBs
8. Pete Golding assistant coach
9. Karl Scott DBs
Not listed yet...
10. Jeff Banks ST
eta:
What's the odds of having two Karl's on the same staff?
If the latest news comes to fruition then someone comes off the above list. My initial thought would be Pannunzio moves to the admin side of the house.
Locksley gotta be coaching a position group though.Probably going to be:
Mike Locksley - Offensive Coordinator
Burton Burns - Associate Head Coach, RB Coach
Dan Enos - Associate Head Coach, QB coach
Brent Key - OL Coach
Josh Gattis - WR/TE Coach
Tosh Lupoi - Defensive Coordinator, OLB Coach
Karl Dunbar - DL Coach
Pete Golding - ILB Coach
Karl Scott - DB Coach
Jeff Banks - Special Teams Coordinator, Kick/Punt Coach
Maybe he's gonna take the TEs?Locksley gotta be coaching a position group though.
