What's with all this associate head coach and assistant coach stuff? Is CNS grooming his replacement or do they just help him with extra stuff outside of their positions?

We’ve had an associate head coach for several years filled by different coaches so it’s nothing new. So, I would say the latter is true not the former.

I'm really happy about Dan Enos coming to Bama. I was actually hoping he would replace Kiffin last year. He's really a good QB coach and will help Jalen and Tua.

IMO, Dan Enos is a quality hire and along with all the recent hires could be Saban's best staff since arriving here. Hopefully hiring Enos will keep Freeze out of Tuscaloosa.

Well, I was critical of the hire I didn't like, so I guess I should praise the ones I do like - Enos and Gattis are absolutely terrific gets. Passing games don't operate in a QB and WR coach vacuum, but I've gotta figure these guys will kick us up a notch.

For those who think that CNS is not aware of his own team's (and staff's) deficiencies -- just look at these hires. QB Coach, WR Coach and Special Teams Coach. All outstanding coaches and recruiters...several are young and hungry, more able to bridge the age gap (if there is one.) I also like it that he was able to hire at least 3 who had just moved...meaning that UA assistant jobs are plums for coaches.

The signs are also pointing to a more explosive offense...which is exciting. Now Tua and Jalen will have a first class QB coach focused on them and their development. If Enos can do with them what he did at Arkansas, then the result should be spectacular.

This is exciting. I'm trying to temper my expectations for this offense over the next 2 years but its getting harder.

Probably going to be:

Mike Locksley - Offensive Coordinator
Burton Burns - Associate Head Coach, RB Coach
Dan Enos - Associate Head Coach, QB coach
Brent Key - OL Coach
Josh Gattis - WR/TE Coach
Tosh Lupoi - Defensive Coordinator, OLB Coach
Karl Dunbar - DL Coach
Pete Golding - ILB Coach
Karl Scott - DB Coach
Jeff Banks - Special Teams Coordinator, Kick/Punt Coach
Looks like a winning combination. This combination of coaches has the potential to be a real recruiting machine too.

These are unbelievable additions.

If we (and college football) didn't know better, you'd think that CNS had just had the worse year of his career.

Well he didn't, but I think these changes (upgrades in alot of ways) signal he is not anywhere near being done!!!

This may go without saying, but you are only as good as the people you surround yourselves with. The best of leaders understand this. Coach Bryant even made the statement when he retired about standing on the shoulders of giants (Isaac Newton). Great leaders know great people and who can help them get to where they want to go. Great people want to be around great leaders so they can soak it all in. It's a cycle.

I love the cycle at this time at Alabama.

Coach Bryant said he was successful because he hired assistants who were smarter than him.
