One of the 7 habits of highly effective people is to start with the end in mind. Please use common sense when putting this season into perspective. Yes, these past three games hurt--real, real bad. But you don't start construction on a building by building the penthouse first. Foundation people. It takes a foundation.
The younger players are learning what it takes to be a winner. The older players are used to the old "penthouse" ways. It is going to take time. And when I say time I don't mean days, weeks, or months. It is going to take YEARS to fix the problem.
CNS could have come in and tried to patch the walls and make the shack look like a condo. That would have led to big wins here and there. But he has started to lay championship foundations. What do you want? Shack or Condo?
This year has been tough and I have news for you folks--next year will be tough also. Look at the schedule--the big games will be away except Auburn.
Be positive--brighter days are ahead!
Start with the end in mind!

Dude, I have totally dropped the ULM game from my mind and furthermore, at least on campus, not a whole lot of people wanna talk about it. I've moved on in the sense that I'm looking forward to the Iron Bowl (even though I'll be watching it from the West Coast), but I also have some doubts that we'll win. I knew this would be a frustratingly year, thought that we would be a 7-5 or 8-4 team if things went well for us.

No matter what happens, I do hope and believe that some measure of leadership will step up in the offseason, particularly after the last football game we play. S&C coaches can essentially do whatever they want w/i the timeframe allowed by the NCAA. Hopefully, the collaboration of the S&C coaches and the players will result in awesome spring/summer practices.

I agree with you 100%. Most of us get caught up in the ray of hope we see at the end of the tunnel, but in reality we are still in the tunnel.

It is obvious from CNS press conference today that their are those that have not committed to the system.

When all is said and done, I believe CNS will have a group united with him and his vision for this program, and will walk through fire for him.

NOW LET'S GO BEAT AUBURN

The majority of players that are not buying into the "process" are the older players that are used to old bad habits. The younger players are the ones trying to get some of the older ones to join the "us" team instead of the "I" team.
We as fans must stop this needless whinning and bantering.
Do we want a bandaid or a cure. The cure, as always, takes time.

Let's face it.... we ALL wanted us to go undefeated this year... However, reality set in and we realized, hey it's not gonna happen. Of course, yes, we could have had a better season, but the reality is, we didn't. I still want to scream at the top of my lungs and curse until I am blue in the face, but the past is the past and unfortunately, WE CAN'T CHANGE IT!!!! Losing to LA-M was a disaster, but we can only look forward and hope that the same disaster doesn't occur come Saturday. Some Auburn fan told me today that he doesn't think Saban will last due to the utter failure this season, my response,"He's only Saban; He's not God, and ONLY GOD can work miracles!!"

Meanwhile, IT'S IRON BOWL WEEK!!!!!!!!!! I KNOW we all highly doubt a win, but hey, a win against auburn would mend my heart of every break and tear it has suffered this season. I am SOOOO ready for Saturday!!! And I hope our guys are ready too!!!!

Losing to ULM and at home defies logic so common sense doesn't apply. I'm not dwelling on the loss, but I'm definitely not forgetting and I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find somebody who won't have that loss in the back of their mind coming into this next game, I sure hope the players don't forget how embarrassing it was.

Some games you can sweep under the rug some will stay with you for awhile say 1984 that has stayed with me awhile.

I'm not upset anymore, but my faith in what this team can accomplish has wained somewhat it has nothing to do with the end result but everything to do with the here and now. Still it happens to the best of them and I imagine it will happen again someday.

I do look forward to what is to come and thats a great feeling.

I can say that it hasn't much mattered in the past what either of the teams has done throughout the year you'd have to be near dead not to get up for this game.

It will take CNS a little while to get his players in here and weed out the mal contents. We must give him time to get his type of players here. I look for next year to be much better probally not Nc better but much improved over this year. A look for a lot of fresh and so to play. This will probally cause some problems in the early going but as the season rolls along wins will start coming. By the end of the year we should be a pretty competitive team. By 2009 we will be real good. Now we just need to beat the Barn this weekend:BigA:

In the grand scheme of things, talk is cheap. We all think that our opinion is the the smart one.

I agree, talk is cheap. I am also open to other's opinions. with that being said, what are we to do next? A coaching carousel is not the answer. Tell me one coach you would rather have in Tuscaloosa right now. The answer is sitting in head coaches office right now in the Mal Moore Athletic Facility trying to figure out a way to rally the troops for the barners! It is going to take time. Let the process work.

I coached kids for many years. When my children would change age groups, I would move to the next age group with them. The first year always met with resistance to my system. And my system worked because we won many, many games over the years, but it took time because the older players always wanted to cling to their old, often losing ways.

Baby steps, now that's the ticket! Baby steps!
If that includes a victory over the barner, so be it. If not, cosider it another lesson learned. Painful indeed, but another baby step.

Good post! In 1958 Coach Bryant literally ran off anybody that had had significant playing time in Coach Whitworth's system because he didn't want any "losing attitudes" on the team.......he could do that because there weren't scholarship limitations such as we have today.

Coach Saban will get rid of the dead weight in due time!!

I'm really not frustrated, just concerned and dissappointed.

Concerned because I am beginning to wonder if Coach Saban has control over this team. Has he?
The coach is the boss. He has to earn their respect. Has he ??

I dissapointed because the players act as though they play as individuals, and not as a team. Do they?

Saturday night will tell us alot. Can he regain control of this team and can they bounce back to beat our cross-state rivals.

Can they?
