The national narrative is the SEC is down and the kings are the B1G and PAC-2. We need to do more than beat uga. We need teams a head of us to lose, unfortunately this year has not had any chaos.Winning the SEC is one of our goals, but it’s not THE goal. If the SEC champion doesn’t make the playoffs, it will invalidate the results.
I remain convinced that if Alabama beats Georgia then Bama is in, UGA is out, and the other three don't matter.Listening to the national experts, no one thinks we jump any of these teams, if we both win
It may be, but that doesn’t make it untrue. I’m not saying the SEC champion is guaranteed to win. I’m saying you can‘t claim to be the best team in college football without having to face either UGA or Bama. This is arrogance
And that is not true. But you can believe it if you wish.It may be, but that doesn’t make it untrue. I’m not saying the SEC champion is guaranteed to win. I’m saying you can‘t claim to be the best team in college football without having to face either UGA or Bama.
The SEC has dominated college football for almost two decades with regard to national championships. The last title game that didn’t have an SEC team was 2014, and before that it was 2005. In other words, it’s very rare. We all know the reason why.And that is not true. But you can believe it if you wish.
No one denies any of this. But every season is an entity unto itself. You get what you earn. Each season. No one is handed anything because of what they did last year. The SEC has dominated college football for almost two decades with regard to national championships. What about this year?No one denies any of this. But every season is an entity unto itself. You get what you earn. Each season. No one is handed anything because of what they did last year.
Football is just a weird sport where it is hard to even compare performances against common opponents to compare two teams. It would be easier if like basically every other sport teams played each other multiple times in a season, but they don’t so you get very incomplete data sets.Funny how Ole Miss held Auburn to less points than Alabama.
Yes, one place higher, with Oregon lower. But let's not pretend that Alabama has earned anything higher than 7th.What about this year?
For instance, I'm looking at the polls and Alabama is still at 8.
Well, ok...
So the argument is that Alabama is the worst one loss power conference team in the nation? That really what we're going with?
Alright then, let's consider this scenario a little different. Imagine Alabama, Oregon, Texas and Ohio State were all undefeated. On what planet would the argument be that Alabama is the worst of the bunch? What's the logical basis for that? I can tell you what actual logic based arguments say by the way, which is that Alabama is in fact higher than that (BCS and Sagarin for example).
But... it's just an absurdity for anyone to continue to claim Alabama is the 8th best team in the country. It is, it's not based on logic, it's based on feelings. The numbers, every single data based ranking I've seen has Alabama higher than that.
You’re proving my point. With a win over UGA, Bama would have the best resume over any team not named Michigan…THIS YEAR.No one denies any of this. But every season is an entity unto itself. You get what you earn. Each season. No one is handed anything because of what they did last year.
Nope - you have a loss to Texas. You’re proving my point. With a win over UGA, Bama would have the best resume over any team not named Michigan…THIS YEAR.
There are multiple teams ahead of Bama with worse resumes.Yes, one place higher, with Oregon lower. But let's not pretend that Alabama has earned anything higher than 7th.
You act like the loss is not on your resume. There are multiple teams ahead of Bama with worse resumes.
I don’t think we are getting the proper credit for this year.No one denies any of this. But every season is an entity unto itself. You get what you earn. Each season. No one is handed anything because of what they did last year.
That wouldn’t necessarily mean they didn’t also have the best resume.Nope - you have a loss to Texas.
How do you explain OSU and Oregon both being ahead of Bama? They both play easier schedules than Bama and both lost to the only truly good team they played. Bama has more ranked wins than both teams. That is the definition of disrespect. The context surrounding Bama’s loss is not being taken into account. You act like the loss is not on your resume.
How are you not getting proper credit? Aside from Oregon (that one is absurd), who else ahead of Alabama should be ranked lower than Alabama? The 4 undefeated teams? Texas?I don’t think we are getting the proper credit for this year.
The loss against Texas is what it is.
But we are also getting dinged because a 5-7 Florida team lost on the road to Utah.
We are getting dinged because LSU lost in Orlando to FSU.
Maybe Louisville beat FSU. But what if it is a really close FSU win? Louisville lost at home to UK. We beat UK in Lexington 49-21…
But like last year K-State beat TCU and TCU didn’t suffer for that loss. Alabama goes on to obliterate K-State in the bowl game. Hindsight made clear what should have been obvious to anyone - TCU didn’t belong. But Alabama had two losses a year ago. This time around, we are 12-1 and SEC champions.
The committee is supposed to ignore those though. Funny how they are almost always on track with the human polls. The sad fact is that if preseason polls did not exist, we might not be ranked so low. God knows the PAC-2 teams wouldn't be ranked so high.
