I assure you, were the permanent captains last year voted on by the team post season, one of them would just be a bad memory and not have a place beside Denny Chimes.

Some of you don't like the fact Alabama named the captains early and I understand why though.

Honestly for me, I like this move for several reasons. It set the tone and establish the leadership early. It allows the team to finally say, "Hey we're looking at those guys who's named captain for leadership."

It's not just the season, but it's what goes on off the field that's being a decided factor. They are the one who set the standard for effort, discipline, and positive attitude during offseason training, spring ball, and pre-season workouts. It's them who's been showing out.
It's an opportunity to establish the communication and leadership early and before the season. Every teams handle things differently.

I don't care about what happened last year, I don't care about who was named captain. If the players and coaches voted them .. that's their right and I will respect the decision and we just need to move on from that. Some of the comments regarding those two players wanting to be kicked off team, it's unnecessary and uncalled for.

Let's support this year captains. They definitely earned it. I'm excited for this season. God bless y'all!

i do see what you’re saying regarding leadership but with the same argument, I can see it keeping someone else from stepping up also. Not that being named a captain is the goal to stepping up and being a leader on the team but if the team leaders are marked at the beginning of the season, then what’s the point of me stepping out of my comfort zone and speaking out? Just my 2¢

Yeah I hear you. What if they been stepping up all along? If I understand correctly, team has council leadership as well. More opportunities for more leadership for other players.
