New Commit!!

I thought this would already be posted here..... I copied from al.com in the chat forum.

Patrick Hanrahan, from Springville High School, was unsure about his college destination until two days ago when he went to Tuscaloosa for a visit with the Crimson Tide. The 6-1, 240 pound fullback accepted a grey-shirt offer.
"I have already graduated high school. I graduated in May. I went down to Alabama on Tuesday. I met with Coach Shula. He offered me a grey-shirt," said Patrick Hanrahan.

There is a possibility Hanrahan could see action in the fall opposed to sitting out until January. "I will be enrolling in school in the fall," he said. "The coaches want me to in case they need to pull me in to play fullback. I will most likely be a grey-shirt like John Parker Wilson was last year. It's 50/50 right now."

Hanrahan was unsure about his future because of his core classes in high school. Hanrahan said, "It was a long process for me. At the end of my eleventh grade year, there were a lot of schools showing interest in me. I found out I didn't have enough core classes. I had to re-take the ACT. I recently found out everything went through with the NCAA Clearinghouse."

"Alabama was the school who maintained contact with me. When they found out everything went through with the NCAA Clearinghouse they asked me to come down to meet with them. Alabama is a place where I have always wanted to go. It's a great school and I'm excited," added Hanrahan.

When asked about his strengths on the field Hanrahan replied, "My strengths are running the ball and blocking. I really love contact. The main thing I would like to improve is my speed. I ran a 4.63 (laser time), but I know I need to keep working on it."

Other schools showing interest included Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

Hanrahan sports a 330 pound bench press. A 465 pound squat and a 275 pound power clean max

I don't feel real good about our chances with Hawthorne. He seems very interested in UT, he has already visited their campus twice. I think we are about to lose another big reciever to an out of state school.

It will be tough since he grew up a Tennessee Fan.

If we can get Zachary, ut can have Hawthorne. I think Zachary is as good or better. Hawthorne just gets alot of hype b/c he's so tall IMO. That being said, I would love to get either of them.

Actually, I think our chances are pretty good with Hawthorne. He and, very importantly, his family loved the staff and campus. CMS knows how to get to the mamas. If mama wants him to stay close, he might be ours. He is the #1 receiver on our board with Zachery probably #2.

JC talks about Tim Tebow and Alabama's chances of getting him. JC said that Bama is making a legitimate move on him. JC said he thinks if Bama sells Tebow on the fact that he will be an immediate impact player that might make Bama a bigger factor. JC said he wouldn't say Florida is a lock for Tebow. Bill King said if Tebow really wants to play Alabama should be his choice. King and JC talked about Bama's QB tradition and said it is as good as anybody in America.

thanks Surf, that offer was news to me...

I haven't got a chance to watch all of these videos, but watch AJ Jones and you'll see why there were "Brooks Daniels" comments coming from camp.

Rolle Tops Preseason Hot 100

Rolle Tops Preseason Hot 100
Not as clear, however, was the choice of Rolle as the country’s top recruit.

“I can’t remember a year when it has been so difficult for us to decide who was the top prospect at this time of the recruiting season,” said Jamie Newberg, Scout.com National Recruiting Analyst. “You certainly can’t go wrong with Rolle. He’s an outstanding talent on both sides of the ball. But you could certainly make a strong case for a few other guys, especially Andre Smith and Chris Wells. Smith is clearly the best OL since Jeff Byers (USC) and Wells would challenge the top running back in any given year.

Doug Stroud

Anyone heard anything about the 2006 lineman propsect from Evangel Christian in Louisiana- Doug Stroud. He appears to be about 6'7" and 350 and lists Ole Miss and Alabama as his favorites even though michigan , Ole Miss, and a host of others are after him. Seems like a good christian kid who just wants to play some hard nosed football. Anyone got any news on him.

Stroud was supposed to camp with us but I never heard anything from him in regards to the camp, so I really don't know. He's a HUGE kid.

Wow. That AJ Jones vid is extremely impressive. What are our chances of landing that guy? He has a real nose for where the football is, and he gets there FAST.

we made his top 5 and we were the first to offer and we need LBs.....so, I'd say pretty good. I'd really like to get him and add about 25-30 lbs to him. He hasn't put on weight yet because he plays everything and doesn't have time to stay in the weight room very long.

I don't know how good a couple of those backs were that were supposed to be picking up the blitz, but AJ just ran right thru them and or over them on his way to making the tackle a few times. I like it, I liiiiikkkeee it!!! :biggrin2:

Tide targets JUCO prospect DE Tim Johnson
Two weeks ago, the Alabama Crimson Tide made yet another attempt to lure a Junior College prospect to Tuscaloosa by offering a full athletic scholarship to Tim Johnson, a strongside defensive end from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

"One of the coaches from Alabama called me a couple of weeks ago and gave me a verbal offer," Johnson said. "I have so many people call I just can't even remember the name of the guy who offered me. He did say a written offer would be in the mail soon.

"I don't really know a whole lot about Alabama, but I get more and more letters in the mail from them everyday. I'm interested in learning more about them."
