BAMA Softball - SEC Tournament

Thru 3 complete in Lexington, BAMA and Arky are tied at 0. BAMA has left 3 runners in scoring position thru 3. In the bottom on the third, Arky struck out the side against our three best hitters.

Update: Top of 4th: with 1 down, a single to RF was mis-played, resulting in a triple for Arky. Now 2 down after a ground out.

Then, wild pitch by Briski allows the run to score. Giles got to it, but Briski did not cover home. Giles dove to try and get the runner but it was too late. Now 1-0 Arky. Briski follows up the wp with a walk, but follows that up with a K to get out of the inning.

BAMA needs to consult Jobu to wake up the bats.

Bottom of 4th. after two more strike outs, (that was five K's in a row if you're counting), Vandagriff goes yard to RF to tie the game up at 1 apiece. Taylor follows that up with a double down the LF line. Can we bring her in? And we can't as Hawkins goes down swinging. Tied at 1 after 4 complete.

Top of 5th: Lead off single up the middle, 1 on, no outs for Arky. Bunt moves the runner to second, 1 down. Pop out foul down the LF line, 2 down, runner on 2B. Fly out to LF to end the top of the 5th.

I will say that the plate umpire has a bit of a tight zone. Not crazy tight, just a little tight. But he's the same both ways so you can't complain. BAMA is looking at too many pitches to hit and swinging at others.

Bottom of 5th: White bunts for a base hit. Called safe but it's under review. She's out on review, by about 2 inches. 1 down. Pop up to LF, battles the sun and drops the ball, Young to 2B. Wells then goes yard to CF, now 3-1 BAMA. Pupillo follows that up with a dinger to CF, now 4-1 BAMA. Pitching change for Arky. Roman grounds out to SS, 2 down. Giles draws a walk. Vandagriff grounds to SS, out at 2B to end the inning. BAMA now up 4-1 after 5 complete.

Top of 6th: Pop up to 1st, 1 down. Foul pop up, 2 down. Ground out to 3B, Arky retired. Still 4-1 BAMA. We need more runs.

Glad to see her get a solid hit. Top of the order: Young grounds out to 1st, White to 2b, 2 down. Wells rips it up the middle, White scores, now 6-1 BAMA. Wells to 2b on the throw home. Duchsherer hits for Pupillo. That's crazy?
Duchsherer doubles down the line, PR for Wells scores, now 7-1 BAMA. It was actually an E5 that got into LF. Preuitt pinch hits and grounds out to 2b. Inning over, but BAMA now leads 7-1.

Top of 7th: Briski still in the circle: Starts off with a K, 1 down. Ground ball to 1st, error by Duchsherer, 1 on for Arky. Pop out in foul ground to 3b, 2 down. Briski gets the K to end it.

BAMA advances to face Florida tomorrow. Looks like game time is 4 CST. This was BAMA's 6th win against top 10 RPI teams this year. That's best in the nation. This one definitely looked a little ugly early on, but we bounced back and shut this one out. On to the semi's. ROLL TIDE!!

A lot of upsets in the 2026 version of the SEC Softball Tourney. The semi-finals are now set: BAMA faces Florida at 4:00 CST tomorrow. Game will be on ESPN. Texas will face Georgia in the nightcap, also on ESPN. I think if BAMA can win this tourney, we could get the #1 overall seed. Just keep taking care of business BAMA!!

SEMI-FINAL GAME VS THE GATORS:

After two and a half it's been a shaky day for both freshman pitchers, but Florida has had it the worst. BAMA is up 4-1 right now, coming to bat in the bottom of the 3rd. BAMA put up 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, including a solo shot off the scoreboard by Taylor. We could have had more, but we had bases loaded, 1 out in the bottom of the 1st and then had two strike outs. What we need is to get Moten to settle down. She's had a lot of walks in just three innings of work, and one of them finally cost her a run in the top of the 3rd.

In the bottom of the 3rd, we started with two quick outs, then White singled. Young then hit an almost dinger off the wall in right center scoring White. It's now 5-1 BAMA. Wells walks, then Pupillo singles up the middle scoring Young. Now 6-1 BAMA. Roman grounds out to third to end the inning.

A lot of words here, but BAMA is up 6-1 after 3 complete. Let's get Moten settled in and win this thing!

Top of 4th: Lead off fly out to LF, 1 down. Next batter flies out to deep LF, 2 down. Ground out to 2b, 3 down. Moten gets out of this inning with only 7 pitches. She had over 30 in each of the first two innings and 20 in the third. Looks like she's settling in. BAMA coming to bat - bottom of 4, up 6-1.

Bottom of 4th: Giles lines out to CF. Well hit but right at 'em. 1 down. Vandagriff bunts, safe at first. Taylor Taylor singles to CF, Vandagriff takes third. Taylor takes 2B on the throw to third. 2nd and 3rd BAMA, 1 down. Second pitching change for Florida. Hubbard pinch hits for BAMA. Pops up to SS, 2 down. White pops out to the P. BAMA misses an opportunity to add some runs. 6-1 BAMA after 4 complete.

Top of 5th: Moten walks the lead off on 4 pitches. Just throw strikes! Fly out to LF, 1 down. Short fly ball drops in to right center for a base hit. 1st and 2nd for Florida, 1 down. Base hit up the middle. Bases now loaded for Florida, 1 down. Ground ball back to the P, out at the plate, safe at 1st. Bases still loaded, 2 down. Soft liner to SS for out number three. Moten has sure gotten herself in trouble today, but she's also gotten out of it every time. Let's go get more runs!

Pupillo doubles to left center, Young scores. BAMA now up 7-1. Roman walks on 5 pitches. 1st and 2nd for BAMA, 1 down. Giles flies out to short CF, 2 down. Giles should have walked, but the umpire called a pitch five inches off the plate an obligatory strike on a 3-0 count. Vandagriff singles to RF, Pupillo scores, now 8-1 BAMA. Taylor singles to LF. BAMA run rules Florida 9-1 in the 5th inning. Great effort today by the ladies. They will now face the winner of Georgia/Texas tomorrow at 4pm CST. My hat is tipped to Vic Moten, who did not have the sharpest game in the circle today, but every time she got in trouble, she got out of it. Murphy called her gritty and I fully agree. Great victory today. Let's wrap it up tomorrow!! ROLL TIDE!!!
