After watching Blake's interview where he extolled his leadership but remembering just what you point out above, it reminded me of the saying "whistling past the graveyard". Kiffin is doing his best to calm Blake down but he seems to be easily swept up in the moment. I don't know that a QB change would help but poise from the QB goes a long way towards settling everyone in the huddle down--e.g. McElroy at AU on the last drive. If JC has that quiet poise it might be an offset for his lack of knowledge of the system and the step down in mobility that is given up w/o BS.
i know he had a rough game, blake did throw a td pass when we were down 13-7 in the fourth. that showed poise

True enough or one could say it showed his athleticism on the movement and a wide open receiver. Breakdowns in poise affect drives and consistency. I don't doubt for a minute his athleticism every since I saw him in the Ga High School Association Championship game where his ability showed like a man playing with boys. Maybe if we use that more.........

my espn stream was in and out that whole drive. i caught individual frames showing deandrew with the ball in the end zone, but i never actually saw the play (or most of the drive leading up to it)

We will win out this season. The talent is there. We need to just infuse the team with confidence. C. Jones was one of the most confident players we had. These guys just need to get their swagger back. More than anything be loose and have fun. I believe our defense is better now, when we rushed with only 4, we seemed to do better and still got some pressure. We need a little help but everything is still in front of us. The team is playing hard now they just need to have fun doing it. Mark my words we will not lose another game in the regular season including Auburn.

It seems that not only the team has lost its confidence, so have the fans

he looks slow and lumbering.

DH Is not very quick, but he is not slow . His frame makes him look that way. I think he runs a 4.4 . Of course track speed and football speed are completely different. What good is a forty time if you rarely run more than 10 yards.

Derrick is the type of guy that needs a crease to run through . He would get 2000 yards running behind Barrett and company .

i would wager that our team is in much better shape than our fans at this point.
Yeah, I certainly hope that the team isn't nearly this whiny.

Did the fans act like this after the 2009 Tennessee win? Or had the entitled attitude not fully taken hold yet?

I just have to put this out there though, things may not get better. Alabama isn't healthy and it's exposed some obvious weaknesses. But, that's not the end of the world either, Auburn and Missouri won a combined 8 games in 2012 played for an SEC championship (and a BCSCG birth) the next. It occurs to me that a lot of our fans can't comprehend that a hurt/young team might have a bit of a down year.

i remember a lot of whining during our "slump" in the middle of 2009, but yeah, i think its gotten much worse in the last two years and is related to a sense of entitlement.

me, im glad the sec west is as strong as it is and I'm glad we have to fight for wins. it will only make us stronger in the long run, and we can also hang our hats on being the main reason the west has turned out so strong.

I think we're going to have to go to a moving pocket until we get Kelley back and RG settled down some. If we don't to that with some rollouts, despite Blake's problems throwing on the run, we're going to see more and more scrambles, because the DCs have figured out Lane's screen offense...

I'm judging here, but a leader never has to talk about his/her leadership and convince anyone. It becomes apparent without that. A leader doesn't have a need to talk about it.

There was quite a bit of whining after UT 2009, mostly by the UT fans, of course, but quite a bit by disgruntled Tide fans, grumbling that our team wasn't all that. But I do agree that the sense of entitlement has really grown...

The only part I really regret of all that is that some teams might have resorted to bending the rules to acquire the talent to match up with Alabama. But, yeah LSU is lucky to have only two losses right now, and they have every bit the talent Alabama has. I wonder how their fans are taking it?

Alabama's SoS is 11 and will break into the top ten next week. I wish some people could put together young+injured+very difficult schedule (the most difficult they've played since 2009 from what I recall) and come up with a logical reaction, but oh well.

He looks hurt to me & just not 100% at all..He looks nothing like the RB many compared to Marcus Dupree last year..I actually think we have a lot of players that look a step slow like they're not 100% to me..
Henry is not playing to his build. There is a word I am thinking of but won't mention it here. He seems to lack that explosive first step to attack the hole. This guy should be punishing people.

Yup..I thought so as well & wondered the same thing..I was switching in between games & didn't pay close enough attention I reckon.
You are not supposed to do that during an Alabama game! See, this is part of our problem. You were not focusing on what was important and we almost lost! So, I'll blame that last false start by #77 on you.

When Alabama is playing, everything else ceases to even exist. No channel changing. I screwed up last week and posted using my iPad while watching that game and lost it for the Tide. Won't happen again!

I thought our O-Line actually did a descent enough job, when you consider what you pointed out, D's have no respect for Blake's arm & they're crowding the LOS bringing more players than our O-Line to block..And Blake had time many plays to find the open WR's & just didn't get the ball to them..I though Bozeman playing his 1st start in a hostile environment did a good job & got better with the more reps & experience he got as the game went on..If he starts next week..I honestly think our O-Line will play better cause Boz has that much needed hostile SEC environment under his belt & he did learn & got better as the game went on..We have to remember he is w RS Freshmen thrown into the fire that game..And I thought he held his own & got better..And will be better & more confident the next game..And that will go a long ways in how much better our O-Line will look..I have no doubts they will do better the next time out with Boz at C..
I have not read all of the replies in this thread, so maybe these points have been brought up by people smarter than me, but it seems that that the problems I saw in the first game are still there.
Sims does not have a strong arm. After 15 yards his ball is inconsistent. If you notice we have receivers waiting on a thrown ball. Defensive coordinators see this and have adjusted according to this. They are bringing everyone up close which means our vaulted running backs are spinning their wheels.
Our offensive line has been that....offensive. Way too many line penalties. It seems that we are loading up on recruiters, not coaches. CLK has been hit and miss so far.
Our defense has been very good, but our secondary is still a weak link.
We have to, as a fan base and as a team have to stop thinking national championship or bust every year, because after that first rare loss (maybe) every season causes zero motivation afterwards.
I love Alabama, I love Alabama football, and think that this is all a bump in the road of more championships. Always proud of the young men
