Bama vs. Indy in the Rose Bowl - Jan. 1

One good thing perhaps is that IU is coming off the win vs. OSU. They might think now that NOBODY can beat them. While it's good to be confident a game like that can lead to being overconfident. They probably think we're not as good as the team they beat (and maybe we're not) but that could mean they'd actually take us lightly which is a big mistake.

This is exactly the stuff their fan base thinks.

It really caught me off guard elsewhere with how brash and cocky they are acting.

If the IU TEAM thinks this way too then we’ll definitely have a fair shot if we also approach the game with a massive chip on our shoulders.

I never expected to go into this game feeling like it was Miami vs Alabama in the ‘93 Sugar Bowl but this fan base is talking crazy trash on par with those 80-90s teams and they haven’t even won anything yet.

It’s wild.

Imagine being the team with the most losses of all time being this arrogant.

This game remains me of the Notre Dame back in 2012. Most so-called experts thought Notre Dame was going to either beat Bama or give us a game. That year Notre Dame played a soft schedule and had just beaten down USC. That game against Bama was over by halftime. Honestly, IU hasn't played as tough as team as this Bama squad and if we play like we did the last 2.5 quarters I wouldn't be surprised we beat them by 17 points, especially if we jump on them early. Being off for so long for IU they are going to be a little slow starting off in this game.

I didn’t remember who, but I think you may be right.
1. Northwestern 716 Overtook Indiana in Nov. 2025 after losing to USC.

2. Indiana 715 Shed the "most losses" label during their 13-0 run.

3. Rutgers 705 The only other school with over 700 total losses.

4. Wake Forest 694 High loss count due to long history in a tough ACC.

5. Kansas 687 Historically struggled but has seen recent improvement.

Per Gemini... They also noted the worst season every in College Football was Army's unparalleled 0-13 season in 2003... That was the weird year of the extra game.

I would love this outcome! I do think we have a chance if we play tough and take it to them. Need the defense to play tough from the first snap and the offense has to protect Ty.

If you look at pure roster talent, Alabama twice as many 5* kids as Indiana has 4* . If You look at it as they have a bunch of 3* kids that bought into the program , S&C , coaching, especially along the lines of scrimmage, they have many more team players than most teams in the country. They play complimentary football with schemes that are complimentary in all three phases. Plus, they have a winning attitude that reflects their coach. Cignetti took Nick’s mantra of ‘make their ass quit ‘ and applied it to his whole program. It’s a solid program.
The weird thing, I read somewhere they only practice 6 of their NCAA allotted 20 hours per week.
one thing, they have never seen as much talent on the field as they will see in the Rose Bowl. I know Ohio State is talented, but two of their best players were Bama throwaways( alright, transfers) , but overall talent, Bama has more.

Coach Bryant said ( Don’t know if he originated or borrowed it. No matter.), “ Act like you’ve been there before. “ Well, the fact is…..they haven’t been. At least not in football. That’s the fan base. I wouldn’t count on Cignetti letting his team get into that mindset. But I hope they do.

I’d be a lot more comfortable if we could run the football…….even a little.

Here's your 20 biggest losers, worst at the top:
1) Northwestern
2) Indiana
3) Rutgers
4) Wake Forest
5) Kansas
6) Iowa St

7) Tulane
8) Kansas St
9) Vandy
10) Rice
11) Kentucky
12) Virginia
13) Oregon St
14) Illinois
15) Temple
16) Colorado St
17) Mississippi St
18) S Carolina

19) UCONN
20) Navy

I think you can look at the teams in GREEN above, who were all members of the Big Eight - and understand how mythical Oklahoma and Nebraska REALLY were. It's like......they had a three-game cushion at the start most years.

MSU has 4 more losses than South Carolina, largely because they were in the SEC for 60 additional years while South Carolina stayed in the SOUTHERN CONFERENCE, which became the ACC in 1953, left to go Indy in 1971 before joining the SEC in 1992.

True story: SCAR has 4 more wins than MSU, 4 fewer losses, 4 fewer ties - and has played 4 fewer games. Historically, SCAR is 10-7 (three of the four wins) against MSU head-to-head.

3 of the 14 worst teams of all-time are "long-time members of the Big Ten," which points in a similar direction as the Big 8 powers.

I'm hoping they will be a bit rusty after having so much time off since their last game.

We all have seen enough of the games over time to know how difficult it is to judge specific match ups and how they may go in the game. Has Indiana been tested to the degree that Alabama has? Probably not! Just based on games over time, all it would take is for Ty to have time and success in throwing the foodball and the likely outcome changes dramatically.
