Bama's Triple Threat!!

This "debate" needs to take place a little later in the year. Both teams haven't played anyone worth a flip.

Speculate all you want right now, but if I was picking a team to put on the field, I'd take the 2 in Opelika.

I hope I am proven wrong.

You're right Kent. Time will tell.

Trying to diminish the talent present in Auburn's backfield by viewing it through Crimson lenses is kind of childish. Auburn is loaded this year and could well contend for the SEC.

The Iron Bowl this year could well present the opportunity for Bama to play spoiler.

Crimson-Blitz, Nobody on this board is trying to diminish the existing talent regarding Auburn's backfield. Bama Nation is fully awared of CW/RB and their running abilities. Myself and many others on this post have stated previously that we are not wearing CRIMSON glasses when assessing our RBs compared to Auburn's. WE like what we have seen thus far and are simply expressing our enthusiasm for our boys in Crimson. Time will tell is a correct statement. And when the season is over, we can sum up this debate. As far as Auburn being loaded, you must be joking?!? Their first 2 games are not the best evaluation stick of how good or bad Auburn is. Let's wait and see as their schedule gets more difficult.

Again, this has nothing to do with "crimson lenses". I simply do not agree that Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown are the world-beaters that their hype makes them out to be. Please note: this does not mean I don't agree that they're very good - they are. I simply don't agree with what seems to be commonly held belief that they are gods among men.

This has nothing to do with my love of the Crimson Tide. I have that opinion as an observer and lover of college football in general. I'm not trying to play them down because they play for Auburn, I'm simply not bending over backwards to agree with the hype that they haven't lived up to, no matter who they play for or who I support.

In short: Their hype > their production

How some of you can keep insisting this is some sort of result of drinking Bama Kool-Aid or wearing Crimson glasses I don't know. It's my opinion that I've formed from watching them play, and looking at their results, and comparing it to their hype and their press. I am not predisposed to marginalize Auburn players (in fact, I'd say I'm more likely not to, given that I hardly ever think about Auburn, living up here in New Hampshire... ). Why is that such a hard concept to believe?

I hate to say it but the barn has the top rb tandem in the SEC, and I can't really think of a team out there with better. We do have better overall depth at rb because we have three solid rb's and of course Johns back there fighting for playing time.

No argument from me there; I LOVE what I've seen so far this year.

Bebe's arguments are starting to look pretty silly when you look at the SEC cumulative rushing statistics for 2004.

False Sense Of Security #1 - Bama hasn't played ANY good teams yet.

FSOS #2 - tenn beat Fla which lost basically it's entire secondary... and had no pass rush for the tenn nub QBs. fla is not good.

FSOS #3 - Auburn beat LSU which almost lost to an oregon team?!?!?! LSU has one QB who is old and isn't very good and another QB who's supposed to be good, but hasn't really done much yet. they also lost their best receiver and, apparently, the only two decent D-Linemen they had.

FSOS #4 - Georgia is just misfiring... a little off-kilter i'd say.

FSOS #5 - Arkansas played tough against Texas... and to think i picked Texas to play in the big game... i dunno now.

Heres A Little Water For The Barner Flame

true great running backs e.g. shaun alexander, hershel walker. Do not get shut down in the big games and lswho shut them down with very little production except for the last drive. So in order to be a great 1-2 back you gotta produce like say winning a NC because the D cannot stop you in the big games. CW and RB are good quick runners but I will take our 3 RH/KD/TC over anything barners can put out there!! We have a heinz 57 O-line and a sanctioned team but still our RB's drive through more holes than any kind of kid named after a stupid car!!! :biga:

It looks like we will depend on our TRIPLE threat now more than we had hoped for with Brodie going down. I for one am not worried at all with Gullion. If we had a crappy runing game and crap defense, then yeah, I would be worried as hell. But we don't, I think we'll be ok with our TRIPLE (not duo) threat.

Roll Tide!!
