Click on the link below. It takes you to a site that you can put up money, based on your team's chances to making the big game, that will guarantee you face value tix in the event your team makes it. If they don't you lose the money. Not every team is priced the same. This is the only way some folks will get tickets at a reasonable price for the BCS game. And the Sugar Bowl committee will make off like bandits!

I don't know if there's much value in this. If it's really just the RIGHT to purchase a face value ticket - I think it's a lot of risk for a somewhat small reward. I think you're as good off waiting on the reseller's market before the game.

If you can apply your reservation to the cost of the ticket, that's a somewhat different story

I think it's great (and I bought 8 "reservations" back in March!). The neat thing is that you can buy and sell all season long, and prices will fluctuate depending on how the season is playing out. On the one hand, if Alabama loses at Penn State in week 2, the option value will plummet to basically zero. But on the other hand, if Alabama is still undefeated by the end of October, I'm guessing plenty of people will be selling those $85 options for $250 or more!

It is no more gambling than the stock market. The reservations are really a type of security. I did this for the '09 championship and bought and sold them and made a profit. I came out better than buying one in the secondary market for $700+. The $275 plus reservation fee was worth it IMHO

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it. I just said it's gambling and it is. It's betting on a season instead of a game.

Just to follow up on this discussion. As of this week, all of the Alabama reservations that were priced at $85 have been sold, so they are now trading in a supply-and-demand type of market. The lowest priced Alabama reservations this morning are $225 each. When I bought my eight back in March, I immediately re-listed four of them for $200 each, and those sold on Monday. So I got all my money back and still have four reservations when Bama gets to the game -- the "gamble" has already paid off!
