Bediako plans to remain the draft

Hope the best for him. Did not think he had enough offensive skill yet but the NBA loves potential and can’t blame him for the money. Was hoping to watch him play another year as you can tell he worked hard and made a jump from year 1 to 2. But it does leave a thin roster down low.

It reflects poorly on the basketball program that a guy will take his chances playing in the NBA minor leagues or overseas rather than stay in school and get some NIL money and then declaring. He won't get drafted.

He would have had a very defined roll under Oats, a roll that would not have expanded his game and which doesn't really fit the modern NBA.

That said, is there anybody in the portal even close to his skill set?

Pretty much agree. But after the year the team went through can you blame guys to be ready to get out.
As another poster said this could also help him expand his game if he plays overseas. Up to now our system doesn’t seem to want/need for him to expand his game.

I don't know that I follow your logic. I would think that the season itself would be an encouragement for players like Bediako to come back for one more year given that he finished the season strong and the team did well. If he continues to build on that and has a strong season from start to finish then he is a potential (mid-to-late) 1st round pick next season. If you are referring to the off the court stuff with Miles then I would think you would see him transferring somewhere else to improve his stock for next years draft. IMHO he is taking a huge gamble which may wind up costing him millions of future earnings but perhaps his gamble will pay off. I wish him the best going forward.

That one hurts quite a bit. He played a huge role defending the rim and they are now left with only Pringle. Losing Clowney and Bediako will be hard to replace.

Like most I'm disappointed in this decision for selfish reasons. I do however believe his upside has been reached at the collegiate level and his minutes would be diminished based on what we saw from Pringle toward the end of the season. As far as him remaining for NIL dollars as opposed to what he might earn in a D-League I don't know what either potential might be. Myself, I've taken temporary monetary losses in my career to set myself up for greater potential in the long run so I ain't kicking his decision. What we see from the outside looking in isn't always as it seems to us.

Roll Tide CB! Good luck in your future endeavors.

I am talking strictly about off the court as a reason to be done. It was a lot for young guys to go through. But why transfer if you can go to g-league and start earning $40k min to play ball. (If makes g league which I think a team would take a chance) this way he gets specific coaching for NBA and not worry about classes. I don’t see it as a huge gamble in his case. If Sears goes pro I would say that’s a huge gamble. It all depends what the scouts are telling him/them and based off that it’s a business decision so he knows how big a gamble it is unlike me.

Pringle, IMO, will be a breakout player next year.

That said, he's not the rim protector Beds was.

I don't know what's motivating Beds outside of the money except there's the reality that next season we might not have the success we had this season.

Losing Miller and Clowney (is that official?) and it's almost like starting all over again

Unfortunately, with the 1 year rule and transfer portal this is what good teams will face almost every year. Total turnover.
